3rd year undergraduate project: Face detection and localisation in colour images

Abstract

This project attempts to automatically detect and locate the position of one or many faces in a colour image. The detection should be resistant to minor variations in illumination, pose, race and face type. The process used YCbCr skin segmentation, colour feature detection and Hough transforms to achieve the task. However, due to time constraints and the complexity of the task, the project does not seek to detect faces that are significantly rotated, in profile pose or shot in non-white light.
