A little about myself

I was born on a lovely morning on May 2, 1977. For the next eighteen years I worked and played on the family farm located eight miles north of the village of Goodeve, Saskatchewan. My formative learning years were spent locked away in the Goodeve Elementary School where I developed a love for football -- Canadian Football that is -- hockey, baseball, and a general love of all things of the sporting life. After grade nine I spent the next three years at Melville Comprehensive School where I was a proud member of one of the most feared 9 man football teams in Saskatchewan. As an offensive lineman for the Melville Cobras I became fortunate to play on only the second team from Melville to win the Provincial 9 man Football Championship in 1992. I was a member of the team for 2 years before I decided to concentrate on my studies in order to gain acceptance into an institution of higher learning. After my high school graduation I joined the local fastball team -- the Goodeve Giants. From 1995 to 1998 I played on one of the best teams of the Tri-Highway fastball league as we made it to the championship final three years in a row from 1995 to 1997, winning it in 1996 and 1997.

In 1995 I enrolled here at the University of Regina, where I have been ever since. Here at the U of R I have joined the Carillon, the student newspaper of the University of Regina. I started in 1996 and since then i have held the positions of Canadian University Press Liaison, Sports Editor, Summer editor in chief, and just recently I have been working as the National Sports Editor of the Canadian University Press. I am hoping with this experience that I may be able to have a career in communications. Last summer I started on that path when I accepted a position as communication manager of the Prairie Fire Rugby Club of the Rugby Canada Super League.
