The Aims of the Organisation

The Games Themselves

Through experiences in team sports; dance, drama and other arts; group discussions; and informal gatherings, the Future Youth Games will enable young people from Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, UK, other European Countries and the USA, to develop respect, understanding, acceptance and friendship with fellow participants.

The unique experiences gained by the participants at the Games will help estabish open and long lasting relationships among young people from different parts of the world with varying backgrounds and cultures.

Aims

The Future Youth Games aim to promote the acceptance of cultural diversity between young people of different cultural traditions and perspectives by promoting co-operation in various educational, sporting and cultural activities.

The primary goals of the Games are to provide the participants with an exciting and informative programme which will inspire them to continue participating in their chosen activity.

The Games will also provide them with the opportunity to meet young people from other countries with varied backgrounds and religions, who share common interests and goals, thus offering an atmosphere whereby young people, who may never be given the opportunity to elsewhere, can interact in a positive and productive manner.

Objectives

To gain a deeper awareness and respect for cultural diversity, traditions and identity.

To provide expert tuition/coaching in specified cultural and sporting activities with the aim of improving skills and working relationships.

To explore issues such as prejudice, stereotyping, sectarianism and cultural awareness through a series of workshops and discussions led by a team of trained facilitators.

To go through a series of challenging  and rewarding exercises that empowers participants through increasing self-confidence and self-esteem.

To have fun and provide a full and enjoyable social and leisure programme.
