Michael Jordan is known as the best player to ever play the game of basketball. This section of my website is a tribute to the great retired basketball legend Michael Jordan.
Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. February 17, 1963. He played college basketball for the University of North Carolina in 1982-1984 before being drafted third overall by the Chicago Bulls behind Hakeem Olajuwon and Sam Bowie. Before his drafting Michael was known as the AP college player of the year, The Sporting News college player of the year, and was named to The Sporting News' All-American first team. If that isn't enough the young Jordan aided the American olympic basketball team to a gold medal in the 1984 summer games.

In his first year as a rookie Jordan averaged 28.2 points/game and took the rookie of the year title. There isn't much Michael Jordan didn't do: Slam dunk champion of the 86-87, 87-88 seasons, has played professional baseball for the Chicago White Sox , has been named the AP male athlete of the year numerous times, has led the Chicago Bulls to six NBA championships.

Michael Jordan is a large man 6'6" 216 lbs. But that is miniscule compared to the large numbers he put up in his career.
-1997 total annual salary this year was $78.3 million. $31.3 Bulls contract, $47 million in endorsements.
- Fortune magazine estimates that Jordan $10 billion to the world economy.
-Chicago Bulls averaged 6,365 fans/game before Jordan's signing. That number rose 90% in the first season. Chicago sold out nightly by the third season and at last count since Jordan's third season in Chicago the Bulls recorded 542 consecutive sell-out nights.
-Five time regular season MVP
-Three consecutive NBA finals MVPs times 2 in 91-93 and in 96-98
-Three time NBA all-star MVP in 88, 96, 98.
-NBA licensed merchandise sales annualy were $44 million. After Jordan's signing it rose to $3.1 billion.
-Nike recieves $500 million annualy from Air Jordan shoes and apparel.
-Jordan accounts for 10-20% of the NBA's $2 billion annual revenue.
-The movie Space Jam grossed $230 million worldwide.
Michael Jordan obviously accomplished way more than I could type out in a day and I wont even begin to get into the details but he is definately without a doubt the greatest and most entertaining basketball player to ever live.
Michael Jordan is a two time NBA slam dunk champion.
"Air Jordan" Merchandise earns Nike $500 Million annualy.
Philladelphia's Allen Iverson has a 40" vertical. Possibly the next heir or air to the title of Michael Jordan's clame to fame. But no matter what there will still never be another Michael Jordan or another no.23 on the Chicago Bulls

"When I step onto the court, I'm ready to play. If you're going up against me, you'd better be ready. If you're not going to compete, I will dominate you."
-Michael Jordan
"There's no way you can say 'defend him better.' We were there, but he fades, he's in a crowd, we're near the ball, but he hits 'em."

Michael said that there is a 99.9% chance that he will not be comming back to the game. The 0.1% is however you want to make of it. The reason for this is because most retired athletes don't know what it is like being on the outside looking in and decide that they are not yet ready to stop playing the game. Don't get me wrong Michael didn't retire from basketball at all. I'm quite sure he still plays in his spare time and with his kids. He only retired from the NBA.
Kobe Bryant, one of the few modern day NBA youngsters expected to be an ambassador to Michael's throne.
MJ joined with guys such as Wilt Chamberlain as one of the 50 all time greatest basketball players in the world.
