Saint Louis University
Billikens Hockey History

Throughout the 1970's the Saint Louis University Billikens competed in the NCAA at the Division I level in men's ice hockey, and at one time were ranked as high as fifth in the nation. SLU played in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) during this time. The program was shut down in 1979.

Today, hockey has returned to Saint Louis University as a club sport organized through the Department of Campus Recreation, and play within the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). Five years ago the club was formed by head coach John Bosch, and in the second and third seasons, were honored to be one of sixteen teams invited to the ACHA Division II National Tournament. Three seasons ago the club finished fifth in the tournament in Salt Lake City losing to Life College (Atlanta), the eventual champion in the quarter finals. Two seasons ago the team won the GLCHA championship by defeating Minnesota in Overtime.

This past season the Billikens Hockey Club made the jump into the ACHA Division I, and managed to split weekends with many of the top ranked teams in the CSCHL. The CSCHL is the most competive club hockey league in the nation. The Billikens will continue to raise the standards and bring in the highest caliber student athletes that will flourish in the program.
