Text Box: 2008 HAFL League Rules

Pick 3 games each week.  Players are awarded 1 point for correctly picking a favorite and 1.5 points for correctly picking a dog.  Pick em games (i.e. spread is 0) will be considered to have two favorites and 1 point will be awarded for picking either team.  Patrick Cody will distribute the official spreads each week via email.  See the League home page for his address if you would like to be added to the distribution list.
If a player misses picks one time during the season, picks will be defaulted to the 3 highest favored teams for that week.  Any subsequent misses will result in 0 points for the week.  If a player does not make picks before the 4 pm Sunday games start (and therefore has only the Sunday night and Monday night games left to pick) and has not missed a week, that player will be assigned the 3 highest favorites.  After missing a week, the player may pick just the Sunday/Monday games if necessary.
The Entry fee is $75 and payment must be received on or before October 1st 2008.  If entry is not received, a player will lose 1 point per week off of his overall score until payment is received.  This is called the 'Lee Green' rule.
A player may enter as many times as they wish, and will pay $75 for each entry.
Each Player will make 3 picks during the first two weeks of the playoffs (where there are 4 games to choose from) and regular season points will be assigned for these games.  Players must pick both games during championship week and will also receive standard points.  Each player must pick the Super bowl.  The Super bowl favorite will be worth 2 points while the dog will be worth 3 points.
Prizes:  See the Payout link on the homepage for top place prizes.  The last place finisher will receive his money back.  In order to qualify for the last place prize, the last place finisher must make all of his picks for the year (the player may miss one week since he will have picks assigned for that miss, but any subsequent misses will disqualify the player for the last place prize.  There will also be a $75 dollar prize for the player with the most points during the playoffs.
Any ties will split the prizes.  For example, if 3 players tie for first, they will split the first, second, and third place prize money and the next place paid will be fourth.
