Barry was unbeaten during his boxing career; He utilized a fighting style similar to Billy Plimmer (one of careful aggression, fast hands, and sharp firepower) and was a clever ring general like the "Nonpareil" Jack Dempsey
Those who saw Barry in action called him a "Wonder"; He was also an excellent handball player; Jimmy was a brother of Bill Barry, who reportedly once fought the "Nonpareil" Dempsey
