a. TYPES OF RICE IN PAKISTAN: Basmati 385, super and kernel, broken 2 to 5% single/double polish from current crop and older than 6 months are always available. Crop is June/July to October/November. Mainly cultivated in the center Punjab, (Pakistan), which has a fine aroma. When cooked, the rice is long and gives fragrance, which also serves as an appetizer.
b. IRRI-6 AND 9: Mainly cultivated in Pakistan. Broken is 20-25%. Table on the next page will give a complete overview of rice characteristics and varieties.
c. Pulses: Moong, gram, urd and masoor whole are available. Gram (whole) when milled is known as Dhall Channa. All these varieties when milled as dhalls have small, medium and large sizes.
