I found out about this show from Vanessa Atler's Official site. It was a 30 min. segment on ESPN about gymnastics. It criticised gymnasts for being consumed with staying thin and tiny and how tough the sport is. But it praised USA gymnastics for trying to help the athletes. It has been trying to reform the sport and make it safer. It has now added nutritionists and counselors to their staff. Gymnasts can call a hotline so they can get help if they have an abusive coach. It also praised Vanessa and her coaches and parents for being grounded. They said she is very healthy and strong. It was a good show. It stated that gymnastics was the glamour sport of the olympics. Vanessa was very good in this interveiw. Vanessa said it is the nature of the sport to work hard. They train almost 8 hrs. a day and most eat less that 1500 calories a day. Vanessa said she doesn't really diet. She just eats healthy. She also says she loves gymnastics very much. Again Vanessa is supporting and defending her sport. It was a good insight. I admit some gymnasts are very unhealthy, but the magority are not. It wasn't all bad though. I enjoyed it very much. They showed Vanessa on the bars and vault a lot. Vanessa said that since the first time she was on television in a meet she has wanted to countinue and work harder and be the best.
