How do I join #neilfinn?
You can join #neilfinn on the AustNet irc network from just about anywhere in the world. You have two options: Chatting using an IRC client will give you a larger range of possible commands, due to the basic nature of the Java applet.
What you'll need is an irc client program such as mIRC or PIRCH. You can download a shareware version of mIRC from here.
Then you need to join an AustNet server. Try to choose the one closest to you.
Here's just a few:
  • Australia: au.austnet.org
  • New Zealand: nz.austnet.org
  • Canada: ca.austnet.org
  • USA: us.austnet.org
  • Singapore: sg.austnet.org
To connect to a random US based AustNet server connect to irc.austnet.org

Once connected type /join #neilfinn and start chatting. Don't forget to come up with a cool nickname for yourself!

What if there is no-one there?
You'll find Australians and NZers around between 5pm and 11pm most nights (Sydney time), and North Americans around 1am onwards (Sydney time). If no-one is in #neilfinn look at some of the other cool Finn related irc channels such as #frenz.com, #finnaticfem's_world, #crowded_house, #enz-o-rama and #H&C.

#neilfinn trivia night!
The fourth #neilfinn trivia night was held on November 20th. The winner was Driver8. Subscribe to the #neilfinn IRC mailing list to be informed of upcoming events.
The nights are usually at 8pm Australian Eastern time on a Saturday. To find out when they are on join the mailing list or keep an eye on this webpage.
Questions will be asked by a quizmaster appointed by the channel owner. First correct answer (as seen by the quizmaster) will get one point. First to 10 points wins!
At this stage we have no prizes but if things take off then who knows what will happen!
Don't worry if you don't know too much because the questions will all be related to Split Enz, Crowded House or Neil Finn, and there will be some easy ones and some hard ones to keep everyone happy!
