"Marin Racewalkers began as a club more than 5 years ago when a group of students who had just finished one of Jack Bray's College of Marin Race Walking classes said--"You've got to start a group so we can continue to get together & race walk; this is too much fun to give it up.". "Some of the club members are very excited about competition--they have become world & national master champions. Some members are very excited about their health program & come regularly to keep themselves in shape. Whichever category you are in, the main thing is to have fun & invest in your health program." "Whether you want to race walk for health&/or for competition, we invite you to join our club. Although our name says Marin, we welcome members from the Bay area & beyond. We work and play with intensity & with a lot of laughter. . ." "Club members suggest that it is best to have some race walking instruction before you join the club: there isn't time for lessons during the club workouts. We welcome anyone who already knows how to race walk. Classes are available at the College of Marin & also private & semi-private lessons w/Jack Bray." Sierra Race Walkers is the largest walking club in the Greater Sacramento area with more than 60 members. Our members include walkers of all ages and speeds from novice to national class. We train for and participate in race distances from 1500 meters to full marathons.

| About Our Club: | "The Southern Cal Walkers is a small fitness and competitive racewalking club founded in 1985. Its central workout areas are in Pasadena and Griffith Park. The membership is scattered throughout the Los Angeles basin with people coming to the club's Saturday workouts in Pasadena from as far away as Redlands and Santa Monica. Members range in age from early 20's (two ARCO Olympic Training Center women presently training under Enrique Pena in Chula Vista) to a 77-year old American Record holder. The club's coach, Elaine Ward, is the author of several books and a video on racewalking. Though she coaches competitive walkers, she herself is a fitness racewalker and welcomes those who want to racewalk for fitness. "The Walkers Club of Los Angeles is the second oldest club in Southern California having begun as a spin off of California Walkers in Santa Monica. Club members include National and International Masters Medal winners. Walkers Club of Los Angeles meets twice a week (Tuesdays & Thursdays) at 6PM at the Rose Bowl during Pacific Standard Time, during Savings time our Tuesday workout alternates between the Rose Bowl and Lake Hollywood. We also meet on Sunday mornings at Griffith Park for distance work. Thursdays are always at the Rose Bowl and that's where beginners should come because we also have a special Beginners Teacher on that night." |
