The tourney's 17 & Under division has four teams: British Columbia Mission Hockey Vancouver Rockets Minnesota Junior Stars Gold Minnesota Junior Stars Green. The teams will play a six-game, double-round robin schedule to determine the two teams who will face off in the championship game on Saturday, July 15. Identification of individual players has been hampered by the fact that three of the four teams arrived in Burnaby with identical jerseys, thus sending each game's visiting team to their hockey bags for "any dark jersey" they had with.

Lyndsay James (St. Paul) got the Junior Stars started with a wicked slap shot for a goal early in the first period. Tanaya Reitz (Moorhead) followed with a nifty bit of stickhandling to break in alone on goal for a 2-0 Junior Stars lead. The Rockets got one back early in the second period to make it 2-1. Junior Star right wing Allison Schaber (St. Paul) pushed the lead to 3-1 with a brilliant individual rush and shot from a near impossible angle. The Rockets came back though to cut the lead to 3-2 with just 5.4 seconds remaining in the second period.

The third period was dominated by great goaltending until seven minutes remained when Kristina Bruehl (Maple Grove) scored from just inside the blueline to make the score 4-2. Becky Fisher (Duluth) promptly followed Bruehl's goal with a booming slapshot to make the final score a convincing 5-2 championship game win for the Minnesota Junior Stars "Gold".
