Kon Tiki
Thor Heyerdahl and a crew of fellow Norwegians rode the Humboldt Current on a raft constructed of balsa logs from the coast of Peru across the Pacific to Polynesia, testing a theory that a Peruvian King in ancient times made the same voyage. During the voyage Heyerdahl and his crew provide an excellent demonstration of harmonizing with the Energy of the Universe. They used the current, and some wind using a square sale. And at no time were they ever hungry. Flying fish jumped onto their deck, and mahi mahi, dolphin fish, continually swam under the raft ready to be hauled in for a meal. The Norwegians survived and flourished by remaining relaxed and centered, in harmony with the tremendous forces of nature. The balsa raft survived storms and a tremendous thrashing when 40-foot waves pushed it across a coral reef in sight of the Polynesian beaches. I think of Kon Tiki when I practice Aikido, moving with the current, harmonizing with the Energy of the Universe.
