I am 52 years old and have Parkinson's Disease. So far, fortunately, it has only affected the left side of my body, so hasn't affected my table tennis game much. Although, years ago when I played a lot, I did, on occasion switch the paddle from right ha d to left on tough "gets" on my left side....not very affective now. Anyway, I have always been very athletic.... playing volleyball, basketball, softball, etc. into my 40's. At the age of 44 I was diagnosed with Parkinson's and, since then, one by one hose sports which I loved playing have left me. About a year ago, I rediscovered table tennis and was amazed that I could still play. I never was great, but I was definitely "good" at one time. I've begun playing again and TT has been wonderful therapy for my PD. My only problem has been finding opponents good enough and willing to play me regularly. Today, through your web site, I've discovered a table tennis club not far from my home in St. Louis, MO. I can't wait to visit and find out if the level of play is appropriate for me. I'm hoping they have several levels of play and that I fall comfortibly into one of those levels. Thanks for the info on table tennnis.
