Some Site Information

Below, you'll find information about changes I'm making on this site (and other sites that I work on). I will try to put something up here every other day or so, to let onlookers know what changes are taking place!

Site Log

October 2004
Adjusted some of the wording on the main page. Hoping to adjust more of the site this month!

July 2004
Loaded up pictures from Christmas 2003, January 2004, and February 2004.

June 2004
A few weeks back, I finally configured a December 2003 page, and loaded it up to my FortuneCity account, having run out of space elsewhere, and being able to use the FTP upload there. I finally uploaded the link today. I think that I started and finished the upload, but never got around to adding the link! Silly me! What, another 6 months of pictures to update left? And Jeannie is a year old now? Wow, how time flies!

May 07, 2004
Made some slight modifications to the Disclaimer, nothing really in content, just adjusting how it looks, and actually had to change from my old email address (about 5 years ago now?) to the "new one." I also made some slight adjustments to the main page, removing the AOL IM and the stupid "surf to" thing I had there for many years. Really considering re-vamping the entire main page...soon.

December 03, 2003
I uploaded another 11 pictures of the entire family. Check them out!

November 21, 2003
I finally uploaded some new pictures of Regina! And after only 5 months! Here they are!

June 30, 2003
YAY! Regina, our new baby daughter, was born on June 13! Here are 2 early pictures of her, with more to come!

June 04, 2003
Added two new pictures of Aaron and Isaac, from February 2003. New baby due in 2 weeks! Wow!

May 08, 2003
GeoCities has recently made a change to the way GuestBooks are done, so I had to re-create my guestbook, and change the links. Old guestbook entries are still there, but they won't be shown in the new Guest Book. New Guest Book : View or Sign.

March 25, 2003
Unbelievable that I haven't updated my website in almost 3 years! Me and the guys are back into Table Tennis, at least for a little while, so I updated my Table Tennis page to reflect some changes in the Pottsgrove TT Club, and some other minor updates. Upcoming Tournament this weekend in Philly! And another tournament in April, but not sure if we'll make it to that one. Who knows.

June 21, 2000
I added the AllAdvantage.com Logo, the PayPal.com Logo, and the AOL Instant Messenger Logo to my main page. I'm not sure if its "too much" but I like having them where people can see them. Most people do NOT realize the benefits of these services. PayPal is great for making payments on auctions like eBay or Amazon.com. Its a great and secure way to have money online. AllAdvantage actually gives you CASH to surf! Its really amazing. So what if you have to have a little bar on the bottom of your screen with advertisements? They PAY you to have it there! So far, I've only earned about $5 through AllAdvantage, but I don't surf much. The AOL Instant Messenger is, in my opinion, the BEST Instant Messaging program that is out there. Even if you can't install the software, you can still use AIM.

June 9, 2000
Finally!! I added some updated pictures of Aaron - Aaron Page 13. They were taken April - May 2000.

December 27, 1999
For the first time in over a year, I made an update to my Cheese Page! I found that the link to amazon.com was incorrect, and I also made all of the tables 80% width.

November 16, 1999
I added 9 new pictures of Aaron. They are here Page 12.

September 29, 1999
After numerous hits to my Chubb Page I updated it. I changed a few spelling errors, some syntax, added the Chubb image at the top, and also the chance to download Novell notes too. I get more hits on this "sub-page" of mine, than on my main page! I will also probably re-submit this to the search engines.

September 28, 1999
I uploaded 25 new pictures of Aaron. They are here on Page 11.

September 23, 1999
I updated Aaron's Growth Chart, and also re-listed the Aaron Page by newest page first. I think its more logical. I've got a bunch of new pictures to scan - where's the time?

September 13, 1999
Made some updates on Aaron's Page.

September 03, 1999
Wow. Changes keep getting less and less! Shows you that I keep getting busier and busier! Today I changed the layout on my Aaron Page and also added the picture of him that was in the newspaper. I also made some changes to the Penn Home Infusion web site, but I'm waiting for the OK to bring them to the public! I've got a lot of neat stuff to do on this site, but I doubt I'll get the time. It seems my era of web design has come to a stand still for the moment, but keep your eyes peeled for more pictures of Aaron! (I've got another 2 rolls yet to scan!)

August 05, 1999
I added 19 new pictures of Aaron to my site! The pictures are actually "off site" due to the problem I've got with running out of space here on GeoCities, but you can still get to the link from my Main Aaron Page, or you can just click here.

July 13, 1999
I still can't believe that I haven't made a change to this site in almost a month! I guess thats what work will do to you! Today I made an update on the Aaron Update Page, since he's growing like a weed! I've got two more rolls of film developed, and hopefully I'll have them scanned later this week!

June 15, 1999
Not a great deal of work going into my web page for the last month or so, but today I updated my Aaron's Growth Chart.

June 03, 1999
I found a spelling error on my main page! Can you believe it? So I corrected it.

May 28, 1999
I added a neat navigational bar at the bottom of each Aaron Page. It used be just text, and really ugly! Let me know what you think!

May 26, 1999
I finished the work on Aaron Page 8 today by uploading the other 21 images (the full versions of the pictures). The thumbnails now take you to the full image. I also fixed some of the links on that page, and linked the other 7 pages to it.

May 25, 1999
I finally uploaded 21 new pictures of Aaron, taken April 25 - May 5, 1999. Of course, I didn't have enough room for them on GeoCities, so I put them on my Angelfire account. You can see them here. I like Angelfire because they give 5 MB of FREE space, without banner advertisements (except on the index.html). Now the reasons I DON'T like Angelfire:

  1. You can only upload ONE file at a time. This is a tedious chore when you have 42 files to upload, hence the reason why only the thumbnails are up right now.
  2. Angelfire truncates any file name with an underscore (_) in it - hence "aaron_brady_thumb.jpg" becomes "aaronbradythumb.jpg" - MUCH harder to read and catalog the files!
  3. "Sign My Guest Book" won't work from pages OUTSIDE of GeoCities. Which means I'll be shopping for a new, FREE Guest Book soon. *argh!*
  4. You cannot create "sub-directories," which REALLY sucks. All the files are automatically put into an "/images" directory - not where *I* want them to go! *bah!*
Ah well, I can't complain, its still FREE, even if it SUCKS compared to GeoCities. In fact, I haven't found ANY FREE web host that compares. Have you?

May 19, 1999
For the second time, I submitted my GeoGuide Banner for the Banner Exchange program. Here's what it looks like:
Bradys World

I also created a new animation for PPMSSL.COM:    PPMSSL.COM
I placed this animation on the Weekly Results page, because it was lacking any images, and I thought it would load quicker there.

May 18, 1999
I added the NedState Counter and Referral Tracking on both Aaron's Page, and on my Chubb Page. I seem to be getting a few e-mails a week about that page, so I thought I would track where visitors are coming from. I also changed a bunch of wording around on the Chubb Page, and added a paragraph at the top.

May 17, 1999
UPDATE:
My e-mail address has changed from weissb@mail.med.upenn.edu to weissbr@uphs.upenn.edu.
Please update your address books! Thanks! And now, the daunting task of updating ALL the "e-mail me" links that I have on my site! *argh!*

May 10, 1999
I've got aout 30 images to scan - but not the time, or the space on GeoCities. I've found a few other servers to host my pictures, but I am reluctant to break them up like that - some here / some there. I guess I don't have a choice. I've mentioned before that GeoCities only allows an HTML file of 30kb or smaller to be edited online - so for the 2nd time, I've split up my "Site Info" section - this time into 3 pieces:

I also made some changes to the PPMSSL Current Standings and Weekly Results.

May 08, 1999
Its a Saturday, for crying out loud! I met with Mike, the gentleman I worked with for the UPMC Nursing Web Site, and we re-vamped the main page, and started work on the sub-pages. We also worked on his Quality Control site, and discussed some other HTML related issues. Fun, although South Philly is still out of my element!

May 05, 1999
I tweaked my Guest Book a little bit. It was too generic for me - and it hadn't been changed in months.  I also created and added a new Table Tennis logo on my TT page, and moved the two "animated" players elsewhere. I like the new logo, and its relatively small (10kb). I also think the moving players look better where I put them.

May 03, 1999
I added something called a V-3 URL Redirector to my page today. Instead of typing in http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Midfield/2007, you can now type in http://surf.to/brady.
It was free, and really easy to setup. You can goto http://come.to if you want to check it out for yourself!

April 30, 1999
I added a new picture to the Pottsgrove Table Tennis Club section of my page - Steve Lowry! Rated 2128 (as of 3/31/99).

April 29, 1999
New Aaron Pictures! Page 7 of my Aaron Pictures are now up! I added 18 new pictures, which are on Page 7 - some are really awesome! I also added a picture to Page 4, and Page 5.

April 28, 1999
New Aaron Pictures! Page 6 of my Aaron Pictures are now up! They are 9 pictures that were taken by a professional photographer on April 5, 1999. I also updated my Disclaimer

I moved the "Testing Section" of my web page to my Fortune City account. I am running out of space on GeoCities! This saved me about 400kb of space.

April 26, 1999
PPMSSL: I added a Weekly Results section, since the first games were just played this last weekend. I also updated the Current Standings to show the overall team scores. (I also updated the Aaron Update)

April 23, 1999
I udated my Aaron Update section. I'm sure I'll be updating that on a regular basis, along with this file, so make sure you check there regularly, to follow Aaron's growth and developement!

April 22, 1999
I added two new things to my Aaron Page. First, I added Aaron's Growth Chart, basically an online spreadsheet of Aaron's growth - weight, height and head circumference. Secondly, I added an "Aaron Update" section to the main Aaron Page. He's got so many new things that occur in his life, I figure I would share them with the virtual onlookers and family members who don't get to see him that often! I should have a set of new pictures to put sometime next week.

I also added an animation page to the PPMSSL Site. The Commissioner wanted a "Fun page filled with all sorts of animations!" for After the Game!

April 21, 1999
I changed the mousover on the bottom of my "Brady's Bunch" page - when you put your mouse over my brother's picture, you now get a link to his page. (It was removed on Mar 24, and re-added on Apr 02, but I forgot to re-add this link!)

April 16, 1999
I made some changes to my Table Tennis Page - mostly some wording, moving things around, etc. I plan to divide up that large HTML file into some smaller ones for easier navigation, and make some better graphics. I also replaced the crappy yellow triangular pointer that I had with a nice transparent red one.

April 12, 1999
I added a new reaction to the Article that Ed Adams wrote about technology today in Softball. Read it! It talks about fatalities that occurred because of the ball! Nasty!

April 09, 1999
I added the special URL REFERRER TRACKING to the PPMSSL Page, and also to my Table Tennis Page. I believe that Nick also added it to his Star Blazers and Yamato Page. Its really neat!

The Table Tennis picture that I added yesterday - the caption was wrong, as the person in the pic pointed out to me! It was the white ball, not the orange one that he was hitting. I added a green halo around the white ball, in the larger JPG image, and changed the caption to reflect it.

April 08, 1999
I combined two sections on PPMSSL.COM into one - the "1999 RULE CHANGES" and the "LEAGUE RULES" became one page: RULES.HTML. I also made a little animation for that page. I then added number 11 to the Main PPMSSL Page, called 1999 Master Schedule. A friend suggested that I make the FRAMES the default, and if anyone didn't want frames, they could click on the NOFRAMES section, but I thought I would leave it how it is for now.

My Site changes today:

  1. I added a "referrer script" to my Main Page. Its supposed to help me track from where my viewers are referred from. It uses JavaScript though, so I'm not sure if I like it or not.

  2. A new picture was added to the Pottsgrove Table Tennis Club Page - Sam Balamoun - rated 2163! I saw him play a bit - he was awesome!

April 07, 1999
My first attempt at using FRAMES was successful! You can view my work here: PPMSSL Master Schedule. The Schedule is complex, with 13 weeks of teams playing each other, in different playing areas, at different times. I think the Frames version works out well, but I still need some opinions to be sure. What do you think?

April 06, 1999
WWW.PPMSSL.COM is officially ONLINE! I helped setup this "URL Re-Director" for the PPMSSL Site that I help maintain. You can also now e-mail me by using webmaster@ppmssl.com.

It was a really neat thing to do, and it helps the 500+ members of the Softball League remember where to go for their current standings, to read new articles, and for an up to date listing of their members. It really didn't cost as much as I thought it would either.

April 05, 1999
After checking the links on the new pictures I put up on Friday, I realized that I had screwed up somewhere. I had 6 files with the name (ma_aaron.jpg) on my Aaron Page! I renamed most of them to a numeric format (1-6). Its all fixed now, but I've got to find a better naming convention!

I am now officially below 1 MB of space on my GeoCities Account. I will have to start getting rid of some things, like the folders I no longer use. (some time passes) Well, I was able to get rid of about 500kb worth of stuff. Now I'm back up to 1.3 MB of space!

I changed the Main Page Bw Logo. I have been struggling with the wording a bit, and changed it to "a web site about nothing in particular." I think its better than "a web site for the defunct and odd." I'm still not pleased with either one, but at least for now, I'll leave it. Also, changing the file from a JPG to a GIF helped with the image clarity and file size.

Per Cruz's suggestion, I switched the "New!" image on Aaron's Page to a different "New!" This one doesn't have the black border surrounding it, is in purple lettering, and also smaller file size (only 259 bytes!)

The Main Colosseum Community Leader told my Community Leader that the only way -I- would ever be a Community Leader was if I changed around my Table Tennis Page a little bit. (did I say Community Leader enough in that sentence?) So I did a minor overhaul of the TT Page - removing the JavaScript, getting rid of the Tournament results from November 98, getting rid of my Salute to Waldner, and also changing around a bunch of wording. I intend to break up this page into 3 or more HTML files, and use the subpages as supporting information, focusing most of my attention on the main page. I don't know if I even want to be a Community Leader, although the perks are nice, and I really like helping people, but I've wanted to re-vamp my TT page for some time now, and finally, I AM.

Something else I was working on - the UPHS Deptartment of Nursing Web Page - was born or put online over the weekend. Its not viewable by non-UPHS members, since its on the UPHS Intranet. I've spent a bit of time on it, and I'm quite proud to be a member of the Web Design Team for that project. (If you are surfing from within the UPHSNET, the address is: http://uphsnet.med.upenn.edu/nursing).

I added one new contact to the PPMSSL 1999 Contact Info page, and also "cleaned up" the actual HTML coding a bit. I added comments to denote the sections, and tried to keep everything at a certain width, to make it more readable.

April 02, 1999
I added a new article to the PPMSSL Page: Article 2: What You Need To Know About Softball Bats. I also finalized the 1999 Contact Info. It didn't turn out exactly how I wanted it. I was hoping for a much smaller HTML file (the original was 30kb, the new one was 14kb) and also something easier to manage. Ah well, consider it a work in progress.

My brother asked that I re-add the links to his home page, www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hollow/7408. I added links on my Brady's Bunch and Aaron's page too.

I also added 28 new pictures of my son! See them here.
