About Bravo29

A few words on me!

The Archaeologist must be something of a detective, in the sense that he must extract from the site enough evidence to allow him to conclude what happened there, when it happened, and to whom. If the archaeologist is also a historian (and the best are), he weaves this information into a larger narrative which allows him to conclude why it happened.

~~~~~William Albert, "An Introduction to Historical Archaeology"
Welcome to my web site. If you made it to this page, you must want more information on me. So, I will provide you with some! You might ask how I came up with Bravo29_98. Well, I am so glad you asked! It isn't a really simple answer, but here it goes: I am a fan of the Braves, one of their nicknames is the Bravos, and my favorite player is pitcher John Smoltz #29. Also, I am a student of the B-29 Superfortress and in Military speak "B" equals Bravo and the 29 is from the plane. (visit my links page for a link to a fantastic website dedicated to the B-29 and the crews that served on them!) So, that is the story of my name. *G* Oh-the 98 at the end is there because that's the year I had to come up with the name, and Yahoo wouldn't accept just Bravo29. Aren't you glad you asked?
Also, visit our Wedding webpage, there is a link at the bottom of this page. The photo pages are not available, as we had to move them. We should be getting them back up and running soon.
I am a Historical Archaeologist living in North Florida. I graduated from Florida State University, and am a loyal fan of the Seminoles! I am a big fan of Major League Baseball (ATLANTA BRAVES!), and the NFL (Jacksonville Jaguars). I also like Rugby, and the team that I am watching is the Hull FC. I have a link to their official site on the Links Page. (In fact, all of my links have been moved to a seperate links page. Check it out, there are some great sites for you to visit!) Check out Matt's K-1 Visa page. It is very enlightening!
**Update to Simba***
He passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007. I had him for 10 years and he is missed. It hasn't been long enough for me to remove his little space on the web, though.
******************************************************************************************
I have a very large cat named Simba, who is a long haired yellow and white tabby. He weighs in at 24 pounds, but he is "big boned!!" His favorite past-time is sitting in the window watching birds and squirrels, although watching the Braves play is also fun! He stands up in front of the tv and hits the screen when they show a non-Braves pitcher! He has really good taste! Heheh! He also loves the plastic rings on milk jugs and orange juice. He will "fetch" them back to me when I throw them, but when he is tired of that game, he drops them way out of my reach.
I do have a few hobbies, besides sports.(REALLY!) I am an avid reader, Sci-FI, Mysteries, History, just about anything. My favorite book is "Childhood's End" by Arthur C. Clarke. My favorite mystery writer is Aaron Elkins. He writes about a Physical Anthropologist who solves mysteries, known as the "Skeleton Detective!"(Big surprise there!) I also like Elizabeth Peters and her Amelia Peabody series. She and her husband are British Archaeologists at the turn of the century in Egypt. (sensing a pattern here?) And I also enjoy Anne Perry, and her Victorian era Inspector Pitt Mysteries! In the Adventure line, Clive Cussler books are among my favorites, I have read all of them thus far! As for History, I concentrate on mostly the Spanish Mission Period, but I am also interested in the Civil War era, WWII, especially the Pacific and B-29 bombers. My grandfather was killed February 21, 1945 on Corregidor. He was with the 24th Infantry Division, 34th Infantry Regt. Company A. I am working on a website dedicated to him. So check back later for that. I am the first to admit to being a complete NASA geek. Kennedy Space Center is a second Mecca to me. (Cooperstown being the 1st one.)
My favorite movie...is hard to say. The Classic Star Trek Movies (and series), Star Wars (IV, V, VI), Sabrina (with Bogart), and every other movie with Bogart, The Princess Bride (A battle of wits, to the death?!), and "Waking Ned Devine" Plus many, many more!!
I am also interested in Scotland; the history, archaeology, and the present. Guess What? On my links page...there are links to great Celtic sites..on the history culture and music.
I hope you enjoyed your visit to the site. Poke around some more, and visit my links page! Unfortunately, I no longer have a guestbook, because I couldn't find one that works. Oh well, thats what email was invented for right?
Though earth and moon were gone,
And suns and universes ceased to be,
And thou wert left alone,
Every existance would exist in thee.
There is not room for Death,
Nor atom that his might could render void:
Thou-Thou are Being and Breath,
And what Thou art may never be destroyed.
For Roger, my love, who is resting on a mountain in West Virginia, forever free of the cancer that brought him so much pain.
