One Way 2 Play - Drug Free! is FCA's program to confront the poblem of
drug use. It goes far beyond "Just Say No!" campaigns because it helps you
create a powerful, healthy atmosphere and provides clear information and
guidance for young people. We address the entire scope of the teens'
lives, not just one behavior. This comprehensive approach takes longer to
communicate and more care to implement, but the quality of relationships
which are built will be the basis for healthy communication for any topic
your group discusses.
Way 2 Play - Drug Free! consists of three key ingredients: Faith,
Commitment, and Accountability. A game plan for success! We have drawn
on the expertise of Christians in this field, and together we have created
a program which God can use to touch young lives. One Way 2 Play -
Drug-Free!...innovative, relevant, and effective.
The features of this exciting program include:
1. Four simple Implementation Steps to help use this program in an FCA
Huddle, athletic team, or youth group.
2.Two Meeting Plans which you can use to implement the One Way 2 Play - Drug-Free!
program with your group. The first meeting focuses on the consequences of drug use, the
reasons students use and abuse drugs, and how God can provide purpose, wisdom, and
strength to live drug and alcohol-free. The second meeting focuses on how each person can
make a commitment to be drug-free and encourage others to do the same.
3.The philosophy and the message of One Way 2 Play - Drug-Free! are
clearly defined in a booklet including:
......details such as why students use drugs
......responsibilities of the coach, parent, leader, team group, and
student
......how to tell if students are using
......guidance in setting up a "positive peer-pressure" structure
......two meeting plans to aid in implementing the program.
4.FCA's book, One Way 2 Play!, contains athletes' testimonies and more about the problem
and the solution.
5.The One Way 2 Play commitment sheet provides an opportunity at the end of the second
meeting for young people to commit themselves to live and play drug-free.
6.To reinforce the commitment to One Way 2 Play!, we offer resources so Huddle teammates
(and anybody else) can wear symbols of this commitment. A Resource Order Form for these
attractive pieces is included with the booklet and the commitment sheet.
7.A recognizable accountability sign that can be used with your group. When a peer is seen
breaking the commitment, the No. 1 sign can be made to remind of the commitment.
8.A team of professionals is willing and able to help you through any counseling needs that may
arise from the discussions. Rapha Treatment Center, one of the nation's largest managers of
psychiatric and substance abuse treatment from a distinctly Christian perspective, can be
reached at 1-800-383-HOPE.
