Sat - Aug 16...6th annual Taco Bell X-Country Festival (West Iredell HS)
Race distance 2-miles. Allows new runners to get a taste for what Cross Country is like and a great way to ease experienced runners back into the season. *Runners will be challenged every 1/3-mile with hay bails* Age group races: (Races begin at 10:30) This is a Tentative Schedule: 10:30- Freshmen/Sophomore Men; 11:00- Freshmen/Sophomore Women; 12:00- Junior/ Senior Men; 12:30- Junior/Senior Women. Age group races allow younger runners a chance to win awards. *Top 15 individuals from each race receive a Taco Bell Prize Pack and a trophy* 8 Mile Relay: (Relay races will begin at 10:00 - Men and 11:30 - Women.) 4 person, 8-mile relay: Each team is allowed 1 male and 1 female relay team. Relay team members run the 2-mile course together trying to achieve the lowest cumulative time. *Top 5 Relay teams with the lowest cumulative times receive Taco Bell Prize Pack and a trophy*. Course: 2 mile wooded course on grass and gravel with 65-70% visibility. Entry Fee: $25 per school due on or before August 16, 2003! (Non - Refundable). 4:15 PM. Each team will consist of 5 runners each running 1 mile each with a baton. There will be 4 races in all including Men's "A" and "B/C" races and Women's "A" and "B/C" races. Sat - Aug 23...4th Annual The Greenville News Tiger Trails 2-Mile Cross Country Race (Grier, SC)
Meet is at Blue Ridge High School, 2151 Fews Chapel Road, Greer, SC, less than 20 miles south of the NC border. 6 pm female race; 6:30 pm male race. Course records: Male: Ryan Jank, 10:29.2, (2002). Female: Sunday Ford, 12:38.9 (2002). Cost: $10 before Aug. 15; $15 after Aug. 15 and race day. This is the only pre-season cross country meet in South Carolina. No team scores. Trophies to top 5 middle school runners (7th & 8th grade); top 7 high school finishers; and top 2 elementary school; adult age groups. Course is well marked grass and wooded trails. Middle School Race 4:30 PM; High School Girls Race 5:00 PM; High School Boys Race 5:30 PM.
Awards will be given 10 deep in each high school race. Awards will also be given for the top three teams in each division. Awards will also be given 10 deep for the middle school race and also team awards for the top two teams for both boys and girls. It is an open course that is very spectator friendly. Teams competing include teams from Jacksonville, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Last years field included 35 teams in each division.

Thu - Aug 28...Cook's Annual 4 x 3200m XC Relay (Riversedge Recreation Complex, Wilkesboro)
JV Girls Race 4:00pm, JV Boys Race 4:30pm, Varsity Girls 5:00pm, Varsity Boys 5:30pm. This is a relay event, each relay containing 4 team members (a school may enter as many relay teams as it wants), however this not a individual event. Each school will need a relay baton. The top three teams in each race will receive t-shirts and trophies. The course is viewer friendly and follows the along the Yadkin river. There is no entry form. Wide, visible start with an exciting, visible, 1/2 mile finish along the lake. Course used for 1A State West Regional Meet and Catawba College.   Separate Bus Parking area in close proximity to Tent City. (Formerly the Chic-Fil-A Invitational). On the NCHSAA state meet course. Take I-40 to the Tanglewood exit. Follow signs to the park. Enter at the main gate.   Entry fee: $50.00 per women's team and $50.00 per men's team. Pocahontas State Park is located just 20 miles from downtown Richmond, the capital of Virginia.  Mapquest directions.  You may enter up to 7 athletes in the varsity races and unlimited entries for JV races. Only 8th, 9th, and 10th graders are allowed to compete in junior varsity races.  Sanctioned by Virginia and all bordering states. Entry fee: $100 per school, $50 per team, or $10 per individual. Make checks payable to Brandon Miles.  All entries must be received by Wednesday, October 7th, 2003. $25 late fee if entry fee is not received by day of the meet. Course is 5000 meters with variation in  grass, trail, packed dirt, and approx. quarter mile stretch of pavement. Trophies to the top two teams in each varsity race.
