Safety First (Velocity)

Through trial and error, and a bit of physics, The paintball industry has arrived at a maximum safe velocity for paintball guns of 300 feet per second (fps). It is very important that all paintguns in use at a field are shooting at less than this maximum. Exceeding these limits can cause painful bruises or broken skin, and even damage goggles.

The chronograph is a device used to measure the velocity of a projectile. In the case of a paintball gun there are many things that can alter the velocity. Air temperature, humidity, altitude, cleanliness of the 'gun, age of the springs, and even the brand of paintballs can cause your paintball gun's velocity to vary. That is why it is important to chronograph your paintgun every time you play and to check it often throughout the day. Never play at a field that does not use a chronograph.

Paintball at it's best is a game of fun, honour, and sportsmanship. There is no fun, honour, or sportsmanship in hurting someone.
