A quick rundown of who I am. I was born and raised in East Brunswick, New Jersey (my birthday
is July 30 for all of my friends who can't remember the date). Growing up in New Jersey I played a lot of different
sports, from baseball to soccer to tennis.
I eventually started playing my true love, hockey, in 1990 when my parents sent me to Camp Merrimack. I got an
eight week crash course in hockey, and then returned home to try out for the Old Bridge Wings. Although I was cut
by the Wings, I found out about another team, the East Windsor PAL Panthers. I made the team, thus starting my
organized hockey career.
In 1993 I graduated from East Brunswick High School and embarked on my journey away from home. My first stop was
Elmira College. I majored in Sports Management there, taking mostly
business courses. While at Elmira I played hockey, and was a goalie (see picture below) for
the Soaring Eagles. All four years there were great and I met some of the best friends I will have for life.
I graduated from Elmira College as a member of
the "Great Class of 1997". I received my bachelor degree in Sports Management and took a job at Bentley College the next year working in the Office of Sports
Information. I spent a year at Bentley, learning the industry of Sports Information. |
Now I am back in Western New York, working as a Graduate Assistant in Sports Information at Alfred
University while working towards my MBA with a specialization in marketing. I have one
year left before I graduate and head into the real world.
I have worked in some really great places over time. Between my junior and senior years at
Elmira I was fortunate enough to get an internship working for my favorite hockey team, the New
Jersey Devils. I worked in the Devils' front office, helping out in their Office of Communications.
Let me say that it was a huge thrill having the opportunity to walk into the front office of your favorite sports
team for an entire summer. I even got mentioned in the team's 1997 Media Guide as an Editorial Assistant. What
a thrill to have my name mentioned in a book that included names such as Martin Brodeur and Scott Stevens.
I have also ventured into baseball, working as the Director of Media Relations for the Elmira
Pioneers during the summer of 1999. The Pioneers are an independent ball club in the Northern
League. That summer was also a lot of fun, even though I was not doing anything with hockey.
