SODERQUIST APPROACHES FALCON HOCKEY RECORDS

WALTHAM, Mass. - Sophomore Ryan Soderquist (Stoneham / Arlington Catholic HS), the leading scorer on the Bentley College hockey team (13-8, 9-3 ECAC Central), will enter Thursday's home game with Sacred Heart University (7 p.m.) on the verge of school history.

With four regular season games remaining, Soderquist is just one point, one goal and one short-handed goal shy of the Bentley single season records.

Soderquist, the team leader in goals (27), assists (21) and points (48), has an eleven-game scoring streak which has helped him approach the records. One more point will tie him with Jon Vedder, who had 49 points in the 1988-89 season. The next light of the red light by Soderquist will tie him with Richard Starck, who had 28 goals in 1995-96. Jay Carta's record of 5 shorthanded goals, set last year, might not be safe from Soderquist either, as he is one away from that record too. Soderquist is now ninth on the team all-time scoring list with 89 points.

Soderquist, who's eleven-game point streak has featured 15 goals and 12 assists, has been among the nation's leaders in points, goals, and shorthanded goals all season. He leads the nation in shorthanded goals with four, and is the fourth highest point-per-game and goal-per-game player.

Soderquist has been playing well for the Falcons all season long, getting points in 18 of the 21 games played. He has 15 multiple-point games, getting five points on two occasions. Soderquist also has three hat-tricks on the year. His +/- rating of 26 is good enough for second on the team

The honors keep rolling in for Soderquist. Last week he was named to the ECAC/Bauer Honor Roll for the fourth time this season. He has been the ECAC/Bauer Central Player of the Week once while also being named to the Potsdam Pepsi Invitation All-Tournament team.
