GREATER PITTSBURGH YABA TRAVELING RULES

ARTICLE I

This league shall be known as the Greater Pittsburgh Y.A.B.A. Traveling League and will be sanctioned with Y.A.B.A. through the Greater Pittsburgh Association. The Book of Rules for Y.A.B.A. leagues shall govern it.

ARTICLE II - Membership and Organization

1. League consists of five sections of no more than (10) TEAMS. Not more than eight (8) players allowed on each team's roster. Floating subs permitted between teams of same center in same SECTION only. Bowler must bowl for center where YABA MEMBERSHIP FEE is paid. All rosters are frozen after bowling on December 15, 2002. No changes to be made after this date.

2. Each center selects their TEAM members at the discretion of the Proprietor and/or the Junior Bowling coordinator.

3. Teams may consist of all boys, all girls or a mixed team.

4. Teams will bowl on Sundays with a ten (10) week schedule.

5. A center may not host the league if it has less than eight (8) lanes. All teams will travel to a center in their Section to bowl scheduled match, bowling at a different center each week.

6. Starting times - Swissvale Bowl-A-Rama - 1st (3) matches - 9:30, others - 12:00 Noon. Export Moose Lanes - 1st (3) matches 10:00, others - 1:00 p.m. (9:00 AM) Princess, Swissvale Arcade, Kennedy and Playmor (10:00 AM) Funfest Ent. Center, Sharpsburg, Brunswick '51', Main Bowling Center, Nesbits', Rosedale, Pines Plaza, Playmor, Hillview, Holiday, NGV, Miracle, Coral, Lokay, AMF Noble Manor and N. Versailles. (10:30) White Oak. (Noon) AMF Mt. Lebanon, Dormont and South Hills. (1P.M.) Sportshaven.

7. Only bowlers 12 years of age or older as of August 1, 2002 are eligible to bowl.

ARTICLE III - Officers

1. The Officers shall consist of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Sergeant of Arms.

2. Election of Officers will take place at a meeting after bowling, the first or second week of the season. No center may have more than one Officer in any Section.

3. The President of the Greater Pittsburgh YABA will appoint the Junior Bowling Advisors for the league.

ARTICLE IV - Fees and dues

1. Bowling fees - $30.00 per week per team, regardless of numbers of bowlers bowling. CASH ONLY. All trophies for winning teams and individual awards will be donated by Greater Pittsburgh YABA. Eight (8) bowlers on FINAL roster of winning teams will receive awards providing they have nine (9) games in league. Coach from team will receive same award as team.

2. The team captain or co-captain is responsible for paying fees to the Treasurer.

ARTICLE V - Official Scoring

1. Board score shall be OFFICIAL record and book score must agree with board score at end of game. No change shall be made during the process of game unless for incompetence or by MUTUAL consent of both captains and Section Advisor. ALL decisions must be made PRIOR to start of next game. NOTE: Team captains or co-captains must sign their initials each game to verify scores is correct. Once score sheet is signed by captains, NO changes may be made after that unless for obvious math errors, even though parents may be keeping score in the back. It is captain's responsibility. Score sheet MUST be signed by captains after conclusion of three games.

ARTICLE VI - Playing Rules

  1. For FIRST TWO weeks of bowling, averages used will be last years Traveling League average (21 games or more). If no Traveling League average, highest average between last years or this year's leagues average (21 games or more). If no established average, a bowler must come into league as a pacer. If bowler's average is not verified, bowler will bowl as a pacer that day while team uses a 120 absentee score. New bowlers coming into league must have a verified average sheet. NOTE - AVERAGES ARE FROZEN FOR THE FIRST SIX GAMES FOR EACH BOWLER.

2. Handicaps will be figured by subtracting the lower team average from the higher one and multiply the difference by 90%. NOTE: The average of the five- (5) bowlers bowling will determine the handicap.

3. TARDY BOWLERS: Should any member of said team appear during the match, they may bowl the full game provided three (3) frames of the game have not been completed. A frame shall be considered complete when bowler in anchor position on each team has thrown their last ball in that frame.

NOTE: THIS RULE PERTAINS TO THE 4th and 5th BOWLERS ONLY.

4. NO playing of VIDEO games during bowling. Smoking, tobacco chewing, alcohol, illegal substances, gambling, abuse of equipment or PROFANITY will not be permitted. Proper clothing must be used. No immoral sayings permitted on T-shirts. FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THIS RULE MAY RESULT IN SUSPENSION FROM THE LEAGUE.

5. There will be NO HEADWARE or ELECTRONIC DEVICES worn league competition. Failure to do so will result in suspension from league and forfeiture of game / games for that match.

6. POINTS: League uses 14-point system plus bonus points each week. Four (4) points for each game - two (2) points for total pins. Team can win an additional one- (1) point bonus for each fifty- (50) pins they beat their opponent up to 150 pins. Roll-off rules will be discussed at a later meeting. The winners and runners-up of each section will be in championship roll-off. In event of a tie for either of those positions, a three game roll-off be held using the 14-point plus bonus system.

7. A bowler shall not be permitted to bowl out any game or series before their teammates or opponents.

8. Three (3) players must be present to complete the first frame of any game or the game will be forfeited.

9. The absentee score shall be 80% of the HIGHEST average of the absentee bowlers using the HIGHEST average of the absentee bowlers (FLOATING SUBS & 5th Bowler) as the 5th average, with a minimum average of 120 to be used in figuring the handicap. The minimum TEAM average for handicapping purposes will be 750.

10. Each team MUST have (1) person at score table. NO EXCEPTIONS! This is also for centers with automatics.

11. NO SUBSTITUTION is permitted during a game. However, a substitute can bowl the next game.

12. Bowler must have 9 games in Traveling League to be eligible for Championship roll-off at the end of the season.

13. NO ONE will be permitted in the bowling area other than the 5 bowlers from each team participating in that game and designated Traveling League Advisor. Only bowlers starting match are permitted to practice.

14. If team is bowling unopposed for ANY REASON team must bowl with-in 90 % of their average to win points and bonus points for game and series. (NOTE: This is average of the five bowlers competing that day.

15. ALL Xmas parties to be arranged between Traveling League Advisor and Proprietor of center hosting it.

16. In case of tie for position round, team with highest SCRATCH pinfall will prevail.

17. Cancellations are up to each advisor and President or Secretary of Greater Pittsburgh YABA. Between them, a make- up schedule will be set.

18. Teams must designate their regular roster on the first day of bowling. NO EXCEPTIONS!

19. If any team shows up with four (4) bowlers or less for any three weeks, they will be automatically disqualified from league the next week for duration of year. This decision is final. Bowlers on disqualified teams cannot bowl for another team.
