We've been together, 2 years or more,
Highland Gold, Highland Sports, and All Stars before.
But what is Highland Gold, is it more than a team ?
More than playing the game ? Well, much more to me.
It's about learning, accomplishments, how far we have come,
Not just playing the games, and how many we won.
Rush out of work, rake the field, late dinner tonight,
I'd yell, get upset, get a little up tight.
But I loved every minute, worth all the while,
For the catch, the hit, the moment, each of us smiled.
Some memories so funny, I laugh hard inside,
Some moments so special, they fill me with pride.

It's Lisa blocking the plate, or throwing a runner out,
It's Nicole M. and Liz at bat, giving us clout.
It's Jonni playing first base, her hands joyously high,
It's Sarah's shot to the fence, into second with a smile.
It's Tara in the outfield chasing down flys,
It's Tanya and Gretchen smacking line drives.
It's Coach Bob with the book, it's our fans in the stands,
It's a nervous Coach Phil, picking grass with his hands.
It's Heather and Megan, so excited to play,
With the effort and smile, they brought every day.
It's Karley and Michelle, great games on the mound,
It's Jen and Nicole, making the wheels go round.
It's the distance traveled, you have all come so far,
It's driving home in the storm, it's the dent in my car.

High Scool, distractions, this could be the end,
So a parting goodbye, to both players and friends.
Thanks not for the victories, all the games we have won,
But for being yourselves, and making it fun.
When you're playing in High School, I won't be down the line,
Can't challenge a call, won't be giving the signs.
But there is a chance I will be in the crowd,
Watching you play, still feeling quite proud.
For things that you do, will bring memories near,
Of something we shared these past several years.
What is Highland Gold ? It is more than a team ?
More than games, more than victories, everything in between.
It is the collection of memories we fondly hold,
I'll cherish them always, they are my Highland Gold.
