United Hockey League Holds Expansion and Dispersal Drafts

Lake St. Louis, MO - The United Hockey League held its Expansion and Dispersal Drafts on Thursday, June 15, 2000, as part of its Annual Meetings in Las Vegas, NV. The Lehigh Valley Xtreme, Elmira Jackals and New Haven Knights participated in the expansion draft. The Dispersal Draft was held to give all teams the opportunity to select members of the Arctic Xpress (formerly Ohio Gears) final roster.
In the Expansion Draft, teams selected based on order of approval by the League's Board of Governors. Lehigh Valley had the first selection, followed by Elmira and finally New Haven.
Member Clubs were able to protect 12 players and one goaltender from their final rosters. After losing a player in the draft, clubs were able to then protect a previously available player. The draft consisted of 13 rounds.

In the Dispersal Draft, teams selected in reverse order of finish in the 1999-2000 standings. The expansion teams had the first three selections in the same order as the Expansion Draft. The draft continued until all players from the Arctic Xpress' roster were selected.
