TESTIMONIALS

The Menominee Maroons reached the State semi-finals and were defeated 23-16. The team finished with a 11-2 record, concluding a 3 year run of 32 wins and 5 losses. Included in this record are a State Championship State Semi-Finals and State Quarter-Finals. Ken Hofer, MI

I implemented and ran the single wing offense during the 1999 season for the first time. In fact, we were the first school in Rhode Island to run the offense in over 30 years. We enjoyed much success (9-3 record; state Div. III semi-finalist; averaged 300 yds of offense a game) with a team that lost 8 offensive starters from the 1998 team (also a 9-3 season) including the entire starting backfield. Coming into the '99 season, we knew we could not run the pro style offense we had been running the past few years (we passed close to 90% of the time); we just didn't have the personnel. From day one, the kids were sold on the complexity, creativity, and the just plain fun of the single win. The offense also put a jolt into head coach Howie Catley. He has repeatedly mentioned to just about everyone he meets how the '99 season has been his most enjoyable in his 25 years of coaching high school football. Paul J. Dalpe

We have finished our second consecutive undefeated season with a record of 12-0. We ran for 4,030 yards with the 4 runners over 700 yards and all four made at least 10 touchdowns. We averaged 35.7 points per game with 10 minute quarters and special rules when a team leads by 25 points or more. Jim Chambers, CA

This year we turned our record from 2-7 to 6-3 with our first playoff berth. An old coach of mine introduced me to the Single-WIng with the Spinning Fullback (John Aldrich). Which I felt would be great if I could find a kid that could make the snap. Once going to the Single-Wing exclusively our season turned completely around. We opened the season with a victory then dropped the next two. We eventually won 5 out of our last 6. Jason Clarke Millersville, Maryland

We are currently 6-1 we lost Friday our first loss in about 3 years. we have had too many injuries but the offense is still giving us a chance to compete. Mark Bliss - Conway Springs, Kansas

Our team has come a long way from the beginning of the season and are hopefully going to the playoffs. If we make it to the playoffs I believe that we can go all the way. Single-wingin it. Would'nt have it any other way. Andrew Simmons, VA We won our championship game yesterday 31 - 14. That puts our final record at 10 wins and 0 losses. Chris Thesing, Westerville, OH

HOUSTON BULLDOGS JUST WON THEIR FIFTH GAME OF THE SEASON (5-2) 35-0!!. THE SINGLE WING WAS UNSTOPPABLE TONIGHT. ONE MORE REGULAR SEASON GAME THEN ON TO THE PLAYOFFS. STEVE KERNS

We once again beat a team out-weighing us on the line by 50 pounds "A MAN". I am leading Nevada "where we play all of our games" in scoring and I'm 4th in rushing. Matt Carter, Coleville, California

As of this weekend we are 7-0. We just won our first district game 43-6 over the St. Mikes Horsemen. In the game before we beat Laguna-Acoma 48-12. In that game our fullback had 18 carries for 314 yards and 3 TD's. Right now we also have the longest winning streak in New Mexico with 20 straight victories. Mario Trujillo

We won again 36-16 and racked up another 300 yards rushing. At our level we have a 25 point rule and your 6 best players leave the game when the lead reaches 25 points. It was 28-0 half way through the second quarter! Wonder how many yards I could have had if my starters could play an entire game? Jim Chambers

40-18, 30-0, 8 - 0, 38 - 6! Doug McKinzie, Kansas City, MO

We had 3 touchdowns and 110 yards on our first 8 offensive plays. Chris Thesing, Westerville, OH

We won 33-0..Stats are as follws: Total Offense 390Yrds rushing..!!! Tailback..310 yards rushing and 5 TD's !!! Mike Santiago, Mundelein, IL

Currently we are 3-0 and ranked 2nd in the state. Mark Bliss, Conway Springs, KS

I've had three consecutive 100 yard games and the line is really starting to step up so we should be a team to reckon with the rest of the year. Carson Ward, Giles County, VA

Our "Gold" offense (second offense) started the game and scored on the second play, the first was a 46 yd end run, the next was a 4 yd wedge. The spinner series worked really well, we pounded the right side and as soon as the short side defensive end started crashing, we reversed it for a 60 yd gain down to the 4 yd line and wedged it in again. Greg Laboissonniere, CA

The McLean County Cougars 10-11 year old football team is 3-0 so far this season, rolling up over 400 yards rushing each game. We have baffled everybody we have played so far. Some of the comments we have heard have ranged from "what is that" to we've never seen anybody do that before. I think it is well worth trying, because it works! Bill Shoemaker

We won our first game 24-14. The game was actually more lopsided than that as we led 24-0 at half-time. Our biggest problem in the second half was getting all our players in for the minimum of 12 plays. We hold the ball so long it is hard to get our defensive subs in the game! In the second half we had to actually take a knee to turn the ball over to the other team. Only in youth football!! We scored on a running option pass, a sweep right and an inside reverse right at the half which took the air out of their balloon. Jim Chambers

AT THIS TIME, WE ARE 2 - 0. WE WON OUR FIRST GAME 20 - 19 AND JUST WON ON SATURDAY 15 - 14! I CAN NOT TAKE TOO MANY MORE GAMES LIKE THIS - I AM ALREADY DRINKING TOO MUCH PEPTO BISMOL!!! STILL USING THE SINGLE WING. DAVID BIRDSONG

Our total yardage is 1352, or an average of 9.3 yards per snap! Chris Thesing, Westerville, OH

WE HAVE BEEN RUNNING THE SINGLE WING AT ST. THOMAS MORE IN CLEVELAND, OH FOR YEARS....THIS YEAR WE ARE 2-0 AND ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO A RETURN TRIP TO THE CITY TITLE FOR THE 5TH-6TH GRADE LEVEL. Bill Svoboda, Cleveland, OH

Parkview High School won their second game of the season over Courtland High School by a score of 56-6. Once again the Patriots piled up over 500 yards of offence with a dominant performance. WE STILL HAVE NOT PUNTED in 2 games, and have scored on all possessions except the final one, when the clock expired ending the game. Thusfar, we have outscored our opponents by a combined score of 104-6. Comments heard in the stands from other coaches who were scouting the game included: "We don't have a clue as to how we're going to defense that beast" and "We'll never get a scout team to run this ... heck, we can't even diagram what we're seeing". I believe this will be a banner season. Greg Shults, VA

The Tyler Panthers Pee Wee division team opened their season Labor Day weekend with a 33-6 win over the Henderson Browns. In Week 2 action we destroyed the Chapel Hill Bulldogs 34-0. The blowout rule came into effect and we did not run an offensive play in the second half. Steve Hedricks Tyler, TX

Coventry Rams junior pee wees won their opener 12 - 6 over a much bigger and faster team. My tailback ran for nearly 200 yds including a 94 yd end run for a TD, he scored both TD's. Greg Laboissonniere Coventry, RI

I thought I'd let you know that Park View High School in Sterling, Virginia opened their season last night with a 48-0 victory over Sherando High School of Stevens City, Virginia. The Park View single wing piled up 317 yards rushing and 172 yards passing in the victory. Greg Shults, VA

We are running the single wing offense for the first time this year, and won our opening game 12 - 0. Over two scrimmages and one game we have run up 872 yards of total offense, only 10 of which came on a pass play. Chris Thesing, Westerville, OH
