QTR-5000   Icom

     Yaesu

My family was informed by a friend about using tracking collars and we have purchased a set made by QUICK TRACK.  We got the QTR-5000 box that is digital, and covers frequencies from 154-222.000 MHz.  It has a 500 channel memory and has proven it's worth in many ways.

We have also found that people may use HAM radio receivers just the same as tracking boxes without paying high costs.  YAESU (model VR-500) and ICOM (model R10-05) put out a good box that is setup to listen to radio waves as a scanner would, but they will receive a chirp from a tracking collar (as long as it is set on CW which stands for Morse Code).  The connection to those are at AESHAM, and they cost around $300.00.

Wildlife Tracking also makes quality equipment for tracking as well.  They cover the same frequencies as Quick-Track, but their collars cost just a little more.  To the left is what they look like.  If you would like to know more about them, the link is Here.
INNOTEC also makes a tracking system that includes this pistol grip box that folds down and can be holstered.  When needed, just pull the box out of the holster and the beam instantly opens, ready for tracking.
