Who We Are

The Washington Admirals joined the Washington, D.C.-area beginner league of Hockey North America in 1999. The team's first organizational meeting was held January 6th, with the first practice taking place on January 10.

Other teams forming the beginner league with the Admirals were the Stampede, Battle Cats and Moose. A fifth team from the Baltimore area was added so that each team would play an eight game season beginning in March. Each team will be played twice. This fifth team is the Baltimore Admirals.

In their first season, the Washington Admirals had a 5-3 record, earning them second place in the final standings. They won their first playoff game against the Battle Cats, 5-4, and claimed the league championship when they defeated the Baltimore Admirals, 2-1. The Baltimore Admirals had been the only team to beat the Washington Admirals in both regular season games.
