And Then He Was Gone.....

Chapter One

The two women had been following the WWF for the last 12 weeks. They had been to so many shows that the security crews didn't pay them any attention any more except to joke with them some. They had front row seats at all the shows, and were almost a fixture. The road crew didn't even notice them anymore, so used to their presence had they become.

Front row....That's where they always sat. They would go to their seats after the matches started, and hang around outside in the back , after they were over. This way, not only did they get to meet some of the wrestlers, but security got use to seeing them there.

"Do you think some time we could go back stage and really get to talk to a couple of the guys?" Kaliegh asked the head of security for the backstage area. All wide eyes, and innocence. She completely charmed the old guy!

Laughing good-naturedly, and looking her up and down, checking out her compact little body, without seeming to, he replied.

"I'm sure something can be arranged. When would you two like to do it?" He asked, while checking in another truck loaded with equipement.

The two women looked at each other, the older one smiled a strange, tight little smile, before answering. "How about night after next? We have tickets for the next three shows and that would be a really nice way of ending our tour with y'all!"

The big man laughed, a dirty laugh, that set the woman's teeth on edge. It made her want to hit him hard across the bridge of the nose with the side of her hand! To break his nose for him and wipe the smile off his face for him. To HURT the man!

Some of these emotions must have shown in her eyes, because the man looked at her with a speculative look on his face.Glancing around when someone call to him, he was thinking about the look in her eyes. When next he looked back at her the blue eyes staring back were friendly, even flirtatious. "I must need a vacation!" He thought, staring back into the deepest blue he'd ever seen.

********

Kaliegh blew a long stream of smoke from her perfectly painted lips and then flicked the cigarette across the pavement. "That was close tonight. I thought for sure that security guard was on to you. You've got to learn to hide your emotions better, Judy...or start wearing sunglasses." Kaliegh said as the two women walked across the parking lot to their hotel.

"Yeah..." Judy agreed. "He sure would be upset if we messed up his plan when we are so close to being done."

As they entered the hotel lobby, the women became silent. Everywhere they went, the hotel personal seemed to be overly interested in their business. Kaliegh supposed they were just doing their job, and being friendly....But it made her nervous. Kaliegh had been contacted about six months ago, when he came across her web page on the Net. She was very skeptical at first, but he was so persistent that she finally replied back to him. Then she contacted Judy. Now for the last three months, Kaliegh and Judy had been following the Federation tour.

"Where do we go tomorrow?" Kaliegh asked as Judy unlocked the door to their room.

"Um...Chicago.." Judy replied.

"Weren't we just there?" Kaliegh questioned.

"No, that was Madison." Judy said, matter of factly.

"All of the cities and states seem to be running together. Half the time I don't know if I'm in Canada or Texas. Makes me respect the guys a little bit more now that I know what they go through." Kaliegh said as she wearily plopped down on one of the beds.

"Well, not too much longer and his plan will be carried out....hopefully to his satisfaction." Judy said as she sat down in a near chair with an exhausted sigh.

After relaxing for a few moments, Kaliegh looked at her watch and said, "I suppose we better get going. We have ten minutes to get to our meeting with him. Final instructions, you know.." Kaliegh rolled her eyes as she said this.

"Yeah, final instructions...." Judy muttered as the two women headed out the door.

**********

The two women walked down the hallway with a sense of purpose. The preparations were complete. They knew exactly what they were going to do and what the results would be. All these weeks of planning , of organizing, of buying what was needed, would soon be over.

"Well two more days, and then we can lay up for a while!" Judy said, no emotion at all in her voice.

"I'll be glad when this is over. I love to travel, and I dearly LOVE WWF, but I must admit that I'm ready for some down time. Geez! How DO these guys do this year in and year out?" Kaliegh was beginning to show signs of strain from spending the last 12 weeks on the road.

"Well, we'll be at my cabin by week's end. Good thing it's got three bedrooms or somebody would end up sleeping on the couch!" She allowed a small smile to touch her lips. They arrived at his room, finally, and knocked on the door.

"Door's open...." Came the deep-throated reply.

They entered the room and found the man laying on his side, laying across the bed, watching something on t.v. He looked bad. Dark circles and bags under his eyes, told how little sleep he'd been getting. His posture appeared stiff, and his movements were slower and seemed painful. Slowly he got up from the bed to greet his guests, and so offer them something to drink.

"No thank-you." Judy said as she walked over to the window and sat down in a chair there. The hotel parking lot could be seen from here, with the interstate just beyond.

Kaliegh accepted a bottle of water and sat down in a chair across from the other woman. After taking a sip from the bottle, Kaliegh sat it down on the small table separating the two women. Judy crossed her legs and lit a cigarette, blowing smoke toward the ceiling. Not taking her eyes off the big man, she watched as he limped toward the side of the bed nearest them, and sat down.

"Are y'all ready for this?" He asked tiredly, looking at both women.

"When ever you are. We're set to go right now if that's what you want." Judy replied.

Nodding his head, the man looked down at the floor, then back up at the women seated before him. "After the show in Chicago, will be soon enough. This has got to go off without a hitch. Otherwise, we're both screwed." He looked almost angry.

"Why don't you just ask for the time off, instead of going through all this deception? It'd bee much simpler." Judy asked, her voice soft and low, seductive even.

"The boss won't allow it! Says he can't let me take the time off just 2 weeks before the biggest pay per view of the year."

"So we're going to do this tomorrow night?" Judy waited for his confirmation. At his nod, she continued. "When you arrive in Chicago, go on and rent a car like you always do. Go to the hotel and check in. Our flight gets in two hours later. We have a van waiting for us. Anything else we might need will be picked up before we come to the hotel." She finished mysteriously. Kaliegh grinned at the look of confusion on his handsome features.

"Don't worry everything will go smoothly." Kaliegh smiled at the look of relief that spread across his features.

"Oh, by the way. We'll be going to my cabin from Chicago. That's why we have a van waiting for us." Judy had been studying his face as he listened to this latest piece of information. He didn't like it.

The two women arrived at the hotel in a ordinary blue van. The only thing different about it, was the wheelchair lift. After parking the van in front of the hotel entrance, Judy got out of the drivers seat, and walked around to the back of the van, opened the door, and activated the lift. Within minutes, she was pushing a sick old man through the hotel lobby.

"Kaliegh will you go and sign us in please? I'll be over there." Judy motioned over near the elevators.

"Sure thing." She said grinning as she walked off toward the front desk.

A group from WWF was getting off one of the elevators. Taker happened to be among them. Seeing Judy standing beside a wheelchair with an old man, surprised him. Looking around at the others, to see if they had noticed him talking to her, he told one of the wrestlers that he'd catch up in a minute, then turned his attention back to the woman with the wheelchair.

"What's this for?" He asked testily.

"This is the way we're gonna sneak you out."

"Are you sure this will work?" He asked.

"If you look close, you'll see a couple of pillows, and a couple of rolled blankets, to make it look like a body in the chair. We also have an extra duffle for some of your stuff, since we can't take all your luggage with us." Judy knelt down in front of the chair and pretended to be talking to whoever was in the chair, in case someone should happen to be watching. "Yes, this is going to work. But you'll have to remember to slump down in the chair."

"OK! OK!" He was ready for this to be over with. He needed a rest. His hips and knees were giving him hell after every match, now.

Judy couldn't surpress a grin as she straightened up. She turned as Kaliegh joined their group. "Kaliegh and I will be leaving a few minutes after you, when you leave for the arena. Then, after we get back, you come to our room, and we'll get ready to leave. Oh, and don't leave a note."

They talked a few more minutes, then he left to catch up with the group he came to the lobby with. He turned to watch as the women pushed the wheelchair on to the elevator. With a sigh, he wondered if this was gonna work.

Later that evening, about two hours after returning from the arena, the two women were once again pushing the wheelchair through the hotel lobby. Kaliegh and Judy had smuggled the duffle bag downstairs after returning from the arena. They had made two trips out to the van to deposit some of his clothes and their own bags, before taking him down.

As Judy pushed the wheelchair through the lobby again, Kaliegh went up to the front desk to check out, telling the desk clerk they had to take "Grandfather" back home. "He's changed his mind and is most insistent on going home now." She said by way of an excuse. The desk clerk said he understood, and hoped they would come and stay again next time they were in Chicago.

A member of WWF security was walking around outside, patrolling the area if you will, when something about the woman with the wheelchair caught his attention. Another woman, smaller then the first one, was climbing up into the passenger seat of the van. The first one, was pushing the chair up onto a lift obviously getting ready to leave.

"Evening ma'am. May I be of assistance?" He asked as he looked from her to the man in the wheelchair.

"No that's OK. Thanks anyway." Judy was suddenly deathly still. This guy was going to cause trouble.

He was watching the guy in the chair. An arm could be seen...an arm that was covered with tattoos. "Wait a minute!" He brought the radio up to his mouth to call for help, when all hell broke loose. The wheelchair with Taker in it had been put in the van. Just as Judy closed and locked the door, she surprised the guy. First she stomped his foot, then grabbed a double hand-full of hair and jerked his head down as she brought her right knee up hard. The blow connected right between his eyes. He went down to his knees seeing stars. Locking her fingers together, she hit him up side his head as hard as she could. He was out cold before his body touched the ground.

Running around to the driver's side, Judy jumped in the van. Putting it in gear, she left twins marks in the driveway of the hotel. Taker held on for dear life as she flew out of the parking lot, jumping a curb in the process, and headed on out toward the interstate.

"Damn girl, don't get us all killed." Kaliegh said nervously, as they barely missed side swiping another car. She had been surprised by her friend's actions. Taker didn't say a word or move a muscle. Her driving had him scared shitless. For the first of many times to come, he wondered if he had made a mistake with this arrangement. Looking at the woman behind the wheel, wearing a hellish grin, he wondered if they would survive the night.

**********

Several miles down the road, Kaliegh turned in her seat and peered back at the Undertaker. He sat bolt upright in the wheelchair, gripping the arms so tight that his knuckles were white. Kaliegh wasn't sure if she wanted to laugh at him.... or feel sorry for him. He looked awfully funny sitting there hanging on for dear life, but at the same time, Judy's actions tonight had certainly surprised....if not scared her. Kaliegh decided that she would laugh at him, hoping that it would help to relax him a bit. As Kaliegh tapped Judy's arm, she gestured back to their passenger, a smile spreading across her lips. Judy looked up into the rear-view mirror and began to laugh so hysterically that she almost lost control of the van. For one reason or another, probably because she was so tired, Kaliegh also found this extremely funny. Neither Judy or Kaliegh paid any notice to the Undertaker, who sat in the back of the van ready to explode.

"Pull over....PULL OVER!!!!" Taker finally yelled. "Pull this vehicle over right NOW! I'll do the driving from now on." Judy slammed hard on the brakes, sending Taker flying to the front of the van, almost landing in Kaliegh's lap. Judy slowly turned her head and looked at him. She had the same look on her face that she had the other night with that security guard.

************

Kaliegh was suddenly very much aware of the tension. It was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Taker was more upset than he had ever been in his life. And what the hell was up with Judy, anyway? She had never known her to be so angry, or so violent! Looking from one to the other, their different emotions were clearly visible. Taker was chewing the inside of his lip, while Judy's lips were pressed together in a grim line. A muscle in her cheek was twitching, further indicating her emotional turmoil.

Judy spotted a rest area up ahead, and put on her turning signal. Glancing in the rear-view mirror, she found his eyes on her. He was as bad as ever other man she had ever come in contact with. Memory of one crept into her thoughts, but she hastily pushed that memory away. Funny how she never noticed before, that Taker's eyes were just like that other one's.

Easing off the interstate, she followed the driveway around behind a row of tall bushes that hid the rest area from the interstate, giving the people that stopped here some privacy. She chose a spot away from all the other cars and trucks, well back away from the lights, not wanting anybody to recognize the man now sitting in the back seat. Off in the dark corner of the parking lot, Judy got out of the van, and walked off a ways. Breathing deeply of the damp night air, attempting to regain control of her temper, she paced back and forth, then decided to take the opportunity to go to the bathroom. Her footsteps crunching on the gravel, the only sound heard in this small rest area. Obviously all the other visitors were asleep. Casually, she made her way to the bathroom.

Kaliegh and Taker watched as she made her way toward the bathrooms. He had moved up to the drivers seat as soon as she walked away from the van. Turning to look at Kaliegh in dimly lit interior, he asked the question on both their minds. "What's her problem?" Taker was pissed off big time. Kaliegh, at a loss to explain her friend's actions, could only shake her head.

Taker backed the van out of the parking space and eased forward to await the woman's return to the vehicle.

"Just where the hell are we going?" Taker asked irritably, glancing back over at Kaliegh.

"She has a cabin in the mountains in East Tennessee. When she wants to disappear for a while, that's where she goes. Why?" Kaliegh asked, as she peered at him through the neon haze.

"Just wondered which direction to take." Taker said as he looked back toward the restrooms, wondering what in hell was keeping her. Impatient to be gone from here, he blasted the horn, hoping to hurry her up.

Judy turned on the cold water, splashing some on her hot cheeks. Taking a deep ragged breath, she glanced at her reflection in the mirror and did not recognize the wild-eyed woman starring back at her. Gawd what was wrong with her, anyway. She loved the Undertaker, and she had been annoyed WITH him or BY him from the beginning.

Jumping at the sound of the blaring horn, she pulled some paper towels from the holder and dried her hands and face. With a sigh, she glanced in the mirror at her reflection and saw the wild look was gone from her eyes, that the woman starring back at her was the one she was used to seeing. Within minutes, the blue van was headed south once again.

-----

Several hours later, Kaliegh was fast asleep, snoring softly. She had put the seat back shortly after they got started again. Judy, too, had soon gave in to the need to sleep, and stretched out on the seat behind Taker. Her sleep was plagued with bad dreams. Dreams of running from him. Who HIM was, she had no idea. But a man! Moaning softly, she thrashed about in her sleep.

When the big man first heard her moaning, he glanced over his shoulder at her, then looked back at the road ahead. In moments, he heard her gasp, and heard a strangled "No! Don't!" Unmistakable fear came from the terrified woman laying just behind him. Tilting the mirror slightly, he saw her struggling in the grip of a nightmare. "Whatever she's dreaming about, is scarring hell out of her!" He thought. Suddenly, she jerked upright. Her face was pale and slick with sweat and fear. Her breathing was labored and ragged. She had a haunted look in her eyes.

"You OK?" He asked as he watched her run a shaky hand through her hair.

"I could use some coffee. Where are we?" She asked, starring out at the darkness, seeing nothing but her own reflection on the glass window.

"Southern Indiana. I-65. Couple more hours we'll be in Kentucky. You want to stop for something to eat?" He asked softly, eyes still on her.

"Yeah, that would be good. I need to walk around a bit, too." She said, raising a trembling hand to her face. She could SMELL the stench of fear that still clung to her.

"There's a truck stop just ahead. We'll stop there." He watched her, wondering what her story was.

Reaching over, Judy shook her friend to see if she was hungry.

"No, I just want to sleep." Kaliegh mumbled, and in seconds was gently snoring once more.

**********

Kaliegh had slept for a few more hours when she felt herself being gently shaken awake. As she slowly opened her eyes, she turned her head and saw that it was the Undertaker who was waking her.

"Hey there." He said to her in a soft voice. Kaliegh was glad to see that he was no longer in the foul mood he had been in earlier. "We're still about two hundred miles from our destination, but I thought you might need to get out and stretch or whatever."

"Thanks." Kaliegh said as she yawned and stretched in her seat. "Where's Judy?"

"She's already gone in to fill her thermos up with coffee." Taker said, gesturing towards the 24 hour convenience store. "Has she...um...you know, been acting normal?" Kaliegh asked as she glanced over at him.

"Yes, she has.....Since we stopped back at that rest area. Except when she falls asleep, she seems to be having some pretty nasty nightmares. You have any idea what that's all about?" Taker questioned her, the concern showing in his voice.

"Well, Judy did tell about some nightmares she had been having....But that was a while ago. Look, why don't you let her take the wheel from here on. Maybe I can get her to open up." Kaliegh said as she opened the door of the van.

"Thanks, Kaliegh." The Undertaker said and smiled warmly. Then he too stepped out of the van.

***********

WWF security was the tightest run private security crew in the business. It had to be because of the people involved. They were celebrities in their own right. And for someone to get the best of one of their members, well, it just wasn't done. Chad Williams obviously had been taken by surprise. And by a woman no less! Chad's body rivaled those of the men he protected. In fact his was better developed then many of there's. He was the biggest man with them at the moment. That made it even more surprising. Patrick Adams, the number two man over security, had given Williams a damn good butt chewing. But Chad DID have a hairline fracture there at the bridge of the nose. Adams almost felt sorry for the young rookie. Judging from the swelling, both eyes would be closed by morning, he also had a good sized lump on the side of his head.

Standing before the window, looking out at the black pre-dawn sky, Patrick had an expensive cigar clamped between his teeth and both huge hands jammed down in his pockets. He knew exactly who had taken the Taker and would soon know where. He pitied those two women when they got through with them.

------

Judy stood at the back of a long line in the convience store waiting to pay for the thermos of coffee, sausage & biscuits, ham & biscuits and a half gallon of orange juice. She had no idea if Taker would want coffee or how he would drink it so she got sugar and creamer packets on the side. She emptied the coffee pots when she filled the thermos, so she started more coffee before getting in line, as a courtesy to those coming after her.

People on their way to work, stopping for another cup of coffee or a quick breakfast, crowded the little convenience store. The line moved at a snail's pace. But finally it was her turn to pay. As the clerk rang up her items, she asked for four packs of cigarettes and $20.00 in gas. "May as well top it off." She thought as she paid for the stuff and carried her purchases back to the van.

Opening the passenger door, she handed the sack and the thermos in to Taker. "You'll find cups in the back in that cooler. Didn't know what you would want to drink or how you took your coffee. Breakfast is in there, too." She couldn't surpress the grin that touched her lips as he dug down in the bag, and pulled out a sausage and biscuit, smacked his lips and said "Yum! Food!" in his best cookie monster voice. Judy laughed in spite of herself. Still smiling, she asked about Kaliegh.

"Stretching her legs, answering natures call. " He said around a mouthful of biscuit.

Nodding her head in acknowledgment, Judy walked toward the back of the van. Just as she finished filling the tank, Kaliegh stepped out from the side of the building where the bathrooms were, and ran across the lot to the van. Climbing into the back seat, she stuck her head out the side window and told Judy to hurry up. Glancing around at her friend, she starred at Kaliegh intently for several seconds, till the pumps automatic shut off. Casually screwing the gas cap back on, she walked up to the driver's side doors, and climbed behind the wheel. In seconds they were back on the interstate.

"Kal what the hell's wrong with you? You look like you've seen a ghost!" Judy suspected word was out and they were wanted. At the least she was wanted for assault, at the worst, kidnapping! Gawd, why did they let themselves get talked into this?

"I overheard two women talking in the bathroom. Our descriptions, and one on the van. Wanted in questioning about an assault and possible kidnapping." Kaliegh's eyes were huge, obviously scared to death.

Judy looked over at Taker who seemed unperturbed by news, contentedly chewing his breakfast and drinking a cup of coffee. His green eyes met and held her blue ones. He seemed happy almost carefree, while her regard of him was measured even wary.

"Don't worry bout it! I'll take care of this!" A smile touched his beautiful green eyes and those marvelous lips. Narrowing her eyes as she studied him, Judy lit a cigarette, and turned her attention back to the road ahead.

Taker dozed after awhile and Kaliegh nervously chewed her finger nails. Judy's thoughts were a million miles away. She had to ditch the van, and her and Kaliegh may have to do something about altering their appearance. Luckily, she knew where she could dispose of the van. Not far from her cabin, there was a cliff with a rocky bottom over 100 feet deep. That would take care of the van. More than one car had made that rocky place it's final stop.

"Oh shit! Taker get back there with Kaliegh. You two lay down together in the seat and cover up all the way!" Up ahead, just inside the Kentucky state line, was a road block.

Taker jerked awake and stared first at Judy, then at the road block just ahead. In a flash, he was scrambling to do as she said. Kaliegh was scared to death. Visions of going to jail danced before her. Quickly, she grabbed a sleeping bag from the back and unzipped it all the way. As Taker crawled back to where she was, he laid down on the wide back seat, and pulled her down beside him. She covered them both with the down filled sleeping bag, being careful to tuck it in behind the big man. He pulled her close to him so she would be covered as well. Just then, they felt the van roll to a stop.

"Morning officer! Hank Kemble! Is that you? Lord it's been forever since I last saw you! How's the family? And what's going on here?" Judy was little miss sunshine, as she talked to the patrolman.

"Judy how ya doing? Haven't seen you up here in a while! Business or pleasure? " He asked smiling up at the woman, his second favorite female.

"Not so loud! I picked up a friend of mine. Her and her new husband were honeymooning and their car broke down so I went to pick them up. It's gonna cost more then the car was worth to fix it, so they junked it instead. She called me to pick them up. So, here I am. So what's going on?" She asked, alert for any suspicion on his part.

Craning his neck to look inside all he could see of the couple was the tops of their heads. Blonde hair mingled with reddish-brown, was the only thing visible over the sleeping bag. "Oh we're on the look out for a couple of women driving a van like this one. They're wanted in regards to an assault." Judy gave a look of concern.

"Well, I'll be seeing you later. Tell Margie I asked about her! Bye Love!" And eased right on through . Glancing back in the rear view mirror, she watched as he threw his hand up, waving good-bye.

A few hours later, they pulled into her driveway. Judy parked the van in front of a brand new log home, completely isolated. Taking her keys from her purse, she unlocked the door and let them in. She went back to the van and began to unload it.
