started his career somewhere around 1934, he changed his persona and demeanour(rudo/technico)3
times before he became El Santo(the Saint),the silver mask and cape stayed
with him until his death. He won his Mexican title in 1942
and defended it successfully until the late 50's. At this time he
felt he was losing just a step or two in pace, he retired and like many
Luchadore's, Blue Demon and Mil Mascaras come to mind, proceeded to enter
the worlds of T.V and cinema. As an actor he was still Santo, only
this time he wore the silver mask and fought evil, driving around
in his Aston-martin and just punching the crud outta the bad guys, he made
dozens and dozens of these kinda flicks, BUT, no one on set ever saw his
face, he maintained his secrecy, going so far as eating dinner in restaurant
in a dinner suit with the famous silver mask on.
In the early 70's, his film career began to wear off in popularity,
and he went on the road wrestling as part of a revue....during a show in
Febuary 1984 he complained of chest pains and shortly after succumbed to
a heart attack...El Santo died with his mask on.....hundreds of thousands
of people lined the route to the funeral service.....In October that year,
his son won the Championship and adopted his fathers outfit in tribute
toone of the greatest luchadores in history.

Like I said the son of El Santo, trained by his father and Lizmark
to wrestle, has won the middleweight title 4 times with very long reigns
each time...and is known as the master of hair and mask matches, yet to
be defeated he has, for want of a better term "scalped" 23 opponents and
relieved 25 others of their masks........has definately picked up where
dad left off.
