THE TOP 25 WRESTLERS IN MMP HISTORY


1. PSYCHOTIC SAM: Most prominent member of The Family captured more championships than any other wrestler in MMP history with ten (1 world, 1 universal, 6 extreme, and 2 midwestern)…elected to the MMP Hall of Fame on the inaugural ballot on June 1, 1999…had memorable feuds with The Ryno, The Bootlegger, and Dr. No Limit, all involving Marbels, Sam’s dead, stuffed, mounted cat…came to the ring with former tag team partner Mike the Giant Retard and had an on-again, off-again relationship with Havoc (aka The Saint).

2. CAPTAIN PATRICK O’CONNER: Most popular wrestler in MMP history often found himself outnumbered in feuds against the MMP’s top heels…first made an impact at the MMP/GWF Best of the Best event in November 1998 when he won the interpromotional battle royal…captured the universal title soon after and won the world belt at WrestleFest ’99 from John Korso…battled The Bootlegger for most of his career, and launched a religious crusade against The Cult Master…held the world title for nearly seven months, the longest world title reign in MMP history…elected to the Hall of Fame in June 1999.

3. VIRUS RICHARDS: Won more total matches than any other wrestler in MMP history…two time world champion and Hall of Famer…was a member of GX, The Syndicate, and The Cartel…one of few men to defeat Psychotic Sam, O’Conner, Bootlegger, and Cult Master…one of the original MMP wrestlers.

4. THE DESTROYER: One of the biggest men in MMP history at 7’2” and 493 pounds…loyal follower of The Cult Master and regular tag team partner of Harbinger…captured multiple singles and tag team championships, including a five month run as TV champion in 2000…only man to advance to the final of both Survivor’s Cup challenges, winning the 2000 event…former United States military interrogation officer who was kicked out of the forces for excessive brutality.

5. DAARK: Began career as Clay Moore and won the TV title…failed in several attempts to win the universal title from The Bootlegger…was abducted by The Cult at WrestleFest ’99 and was transformed into Lord Daark, The Cult Master’s top aid…unseated Bootlegger as universal champion in a ladder match that also involved The Ryno in August ’99…lost the title to Hassan Abu Saada but captured the world title from O’Conner only days later…disappeared from action in early 2000…returned several months later but didn’t find much success.

6. THE CULT MASTER: Leader of The Cult claims to be God and instilled that belief in his followers…after months of hype from Harbinger and Destroyer, made his MMP debut in early 1999…started off with an impressive winning streak, but struggled in the midcard ranks during his first year, winning no titles…turned the corner as 2000 dawned, and was all but unbeatable for several months…captured the world title, his first championship, from Psychotic Sam at WrestleFest 2000…survived challenges from The Destroyer, The Ryno, and “Amazing” Andrew Peters before losing the belt to Virus Richards at Final Judgment.

7. DIAMOND KING: Wealthy Canadian was the original MMP world champion, the final MMP world champion, and the only man who held the belt on three separate occasions…former HWA world champion…accompanied to the ring by large Sudanese bodyguard Jamaal….leader of GX feuded extensively with The Congregation and Mr. Marvellous throughout 1998…disappeared from competition in early 1999, shortly after winning his second world title and returned at Final Judgment to defeat Virus Richards for the world title in an impromptu match.

8. ARIES: ”Beast from Greece” dominated the MMP in 1998, winning the world title twice…entered the company as a bodyguard for Mr. Marvellous, but dominance in the ring quickly made him a full time wrestler…struggled when Marvellous left in early 1999, but did hold the extreme title for several months during the summer…formed brief alliances with Virus Richards and The Joker’s Child…brought brother Hades to the MMP in 2000 and teamed with him to win the tag team title…held five of six MMP titles at least once (midwestern)…final MMP television champion was elected to the Hall of Fame in June 1999.

9. THE RYNO: Hardcore specialist was elected to the Hall of Fame on the first ballot in June ’99…came to the MMP from the HWA during the MMP’s early days and never left…captured the universal title in August ’98, severly injuring then-champion Jeremy Grieve in the process…became world champion in February ’99 in a ten-man tag match…lost the belt two months later to hated rival Masochrist…struggled mightily in a lengthy feud with Bootlegger…sided with O’Conner against The Syndicate…formed an unlikely team with Masochrist in early 2000, but found little success…two time extreme champion.

10. TWISTED STEEL: Didn’t arrive in the MMP until mid-2000, but was dominant…managed by obnoxious journalist Adam Kogler…upset The Destroyer for the TV title in his first two months in the company and defeated all comers, including Destroyer in a rematch…handed TV belt over to Kogler in September 2000…non-chalant approach to matches didn’t stop him from defeating Glycerine for the universal title at Final Judgment…only defeat in singles competition came when he intentionally got himself disqualified during a match against The Ryno.

11. ”CORRUPT” JOHN KORSO: Arrived in the MMP late in 1998 as “The Clone”…would impersonate his opponents under this gimmick and found moderate success against other newcomers…took a brief leave of absence and returned “Corrupted” in early ’99…won the universal title from Psychotic Sam almost immediately…founding member of The Syndicate along with Virus Richards…was awarded the world title by The Regulator at WrestleFest ’99, but lost the belt to O’Conner the night later…failed to win the title back in several rematches…winner of Genocidal Warfare at Vindication in September 1999.

12. MASOCHRIST: Member of The Congregation along with Super Cupid…native of Quincy, Illinois…original HWA world champion feuded with Diamond King for most of 1998 and the early part of 1999…winner of MMP/GWF Grand Championship tournament, and unified that title with the MMP world title at Season’s Slayings in December ’98 with a win over Ryno…lost the title to Diamond King but regained it several months later, again from Ryno…lost the title to Regulator in a snake pit match in May ’99, and found little success after that.

13. ”AMAZING” ANDREW PETERS: Arrived in the MMP in September ’99 with valet Amanda…showed potential immediately, dominating fellow newcomers and established undercard talent…wealthy Miami businessman took time off at the end of 1999 and returned in 2000, winning the midwestern title almost immediately…held the belt from February-October 2000 and still held the belt at the MMP’s closing…elevated to main event status the summer of 2000, but failed in two attempts to win the world title from The Cult Master despite never being pinned.

14. THE REGULATOR: Always came to the ring wearing a battle mask and carrying his trademark baseball bat named Loui Slugger…occasionally competed under his real name, Onyx Cooper…won first nine matches in the MMP…first MMP extreme champion…won world title in May 1999 as a member of The Syndicate and awarded the title to Korso under two weeks later…failed in attempts to regain the title from O’Conner…won the universal title in early 2000 but didn’t hold it for long, losing to Benjamin Childs…owner of the Shadowlands Hotel.

15. THE JOKER’S CHILD: Rude clown from New York always accompanied to the ring by Ponch…likes to smoke cigars and taunt fans on the way to the ring…leader of The Family for an extended period in 1999…defended the midwestern title under “Joker’s Ranking System” rules, where he would only give title shots to the most undeserving challengers…humiliated Ryno’s friend Mack, who had to become Joker’s servant for a month as a result of a loss to Joker in April ‘99…held five of the six MMP titles (world)…amateur pornography producer’s favorite cheat was to hide rocks in his oversized clown shoes…never won a match cleanly.

16. BENJAMIN CHILDS: New Orleans native formerly known as Dr. No Limit was inconsistent at best but did manage to win several championships…held all but the world title at one point or another…sided with O’Conner during the Syndicate feud, but joined The Cult a year later…hardcore specialist always set up a table at ringside before his matches.

17. ”STUNNING” STEVE SIMON: Impressed many very early on, joining The Syndicate early in his career…was a prominent member of that stable for several months…defeated Masked Man X for the TV title and successfully defended it against MMX in rematches…most memorable feud was against The Joker’s Child, who defeated him for the TV title when referee Virus Richards made a fast count on his then-ally…didn’t stay in the MMP long enough to advance past the TV title range but established a very impressive record against upper-midcard opposition…deep roster limited his opportunities.

18. DEATH: Funny man didn’t make much of an impact during his first stint in the MMP in early 1999 despite upset wins over Aries…returned to the MMP at the end of the year as a member of The Cult and tag team partner with Daark…left the Cult shortly after and reformed alliance with manager Q…won the tag titles in a tournament as part of a makeshift team with rival Wolverine, and the team faired surprisingly well…defeated Benjamin Childs for the universal title after dropping the tag belts…produced one of the most memorable interviews in MMP history where he spoofed almost the entire roster in one segment.

19. HOT CRIMSON: Bizarre individual switched allegiances regularly, acting as a member of The Cult and The Organization on various occasions…had an impressive run as midwestern champion in late 1999 and won a tournament for the vacant title at Season’s Slayings that year…lost the title to Andrew Peters just prior to leaving the MMP amidst a serious controversy…returned simply as Crimson and challenged Peters to try and regain the belt, but failed.

20. MASKED MAN X: Spent most of his career as a superhero, but did have a brief stint as a villain as a member of The Family…scored an upset win in a newcomers battle royal in May ’99 and won the TV title shortly after from “The Conman” Wang Chen…turned heel after an unsuccessful summer and joined The Family, who helped him defeat The Destroyer for the extreme title…was cheated out of the belt by Joker’s Child and Mr. Beumont…was involved with Wolverine for almost his entire career, spending time as both a close ally and bitter enemy.

21. BLITZKRIEG: One half of No Remorse tag team with Machine Head (aka Whiplash)…came to the MMP from the HWA and surprised many by winning the world title in June ’99…lost the title to Aries and was unable to regain it in several rematches…began to focus on tag team competition and looked to add to No Remorse’s HWA tag team titles…feuded with Harbinger and The Destroyer for several months over the belts and did win the titles, but lost them back less than a month later…singles career was all but history…returned in 2000 as a mentor to newcomer Glycerine.

22. HASSAN ABU SAADA: Controversial Egyptian was the leader of The Organization…was mediocre early in his career, but found success once Hot Crimson and The Order became followers…scored a major upset in defeating Daark for the universal title in December ’99…lost the belt to The Regulator…left the MMP under controversial circumstances in February 2000…returned months later but didn’t stay for long.

23. GLYCERINE: Enigmatic superstar joined the MMP for its final months…accompanied to the ring by Vanessa…was taunted by the voice of a mysterious mentor for many months….mentor was eventually revealed to be former MMP world champion Blitzkrieg…knocked off The Joker’s Child for the universal championship…defeated several top names, including Virus Richards and Benjamin Childs…lost the title at Final Judgment to Twisted Steel, the only man that ever defeated him.

24. CHRISTIAN ANTIMARIUS: Two-time extreme champion resided in an abandoned church…defeated Mr. Beumont and Joker’s Child for his two title reigns…never much better than a .500 wrestler but showed signs of greatness…feuded regularly with Psychotic Sam, but never could score a win against his greatest rival…also a former GWF extreme champion.

25. MR. BEUMONT: Drunken hobo from Philadelphia provided more comic relief than high quality wrestling…member of The Family and the Cec’s World Order along with Welfare William, Hobo Richard, and China Town Lee…defeated Hyoga in the memorable “Beat the Shit out of Hyoga Festival” at Chaos on the Coast ’99 and did manage to hold the extreme title briefly when it was given to him by Psychotic Sam…has been incarcerated on more than one occasion…rarely lasted more than thirty seconds in a match, but still earned a number of shots at the midwestern title under the Joker’s Ranking System.
