WELCOME TO MY LITTLE PART OF THE WORLD

Hello my friend!

My name is Dean Banko and I was born in 1968 in the beautiful city of Pula . I  completed elementary and technical high school in my hometown. Since the year 1987 I have been working in a local water delivery company. My job is a maintenance of measurement and telemetry. I, also, run a private service for servicing special, measuring, control and communication electronic devices. Therefore, for the needs of my job, I have started my studies at Maritime Faculty in Rijeka . My hobbies are chess, computers and electronics.

As I mentioned before my everlasting hobby is chess. I took my first steps when I was 4 years old, but I have started to play seriously, late, when I was 13. Therefore, I had no greater successes, I was youth regional champion and I played on republican championships. When I was 16 I had to stop playing because of bad marks at school, when my primary occupations were computers and chess. After I had finished high school I played correspondence chess on national level. It lasted for 3 years, and then came war and everything became too expensive. Nowadays, I play online games on Playsite under name Sokrat, and I play in IECG organization my e-mail games currently on class #2. My basic interests are openings, particularly modern defence and collecting chess games.

My starts in electronics were connected with computers. I had the first personal computer in my city, it was Sinclair ZX81 ( do you remember it? ) in 1981. It had unbelievable 16KBytes of RAM. After while, I passed on Sinclair ZX Spectrum on which I made great projects for those days. My first experiment was driving two electro-motors guided by my voice. It was very difficult to do since Spectrum didn't have audio processor like nowadays computers and he had 48 Kbytes only. Second project was developing communication between two computers over a radio-station. It was a foundation of nowadays Packet Radio. After that I purchased Amstrad CPC 464, with which I succeeded to receive teletype code directly on my monitor without any additional hardware. For a while I was using delightful possibilities that Motorola and Amiga 500 could give. Nowadays, I am user of a PC Pentium and I don't explore anything in a computer branch. My basic interests are micro controllers PIC 16C84, 8155 and 68HC11. Also, I am proud to say that I am the owner of the certificate for servicing Raytheon, Autohelm and Apelco marine equipment.

I am married and have one son, Patrik.
