Notes:
In 1977 the MHSAA changed the tournament format from an individual format to that of a team format with the top two teams in each regional advancing to the state finals. Before 1977, only the flight winners and runner-ups advanced to the state finals. In 1993, the MHSAA changed the rules allowing teams that score 16 points to advance to the state finals as well. At the start of the 1997-98 school year the Class A, B, C, D format was scratched in favor of a Divisional format (I, II, III, IV).
Powers Catholic played in the Class A regional from 1984 to 1990. Before 1984 and after 1990 it played in the Class B regional. It became a Division III school in the fall of 1997.
Holly played in the Class B regional from 1963 to 1979 and from 1981 to 1982. It played in the Class A regional in 1980 and from 1983 to 1997. It has played in the Division II regional from 1998 to the present.
Flint Carman played in the Class A regional from 1973 to 1983 and from 1985 to 1997. In 1984 it played in the Class B regional. In the fall of 1986, Flint Carman and Flint Ainsworth merged to form Flint Carman-Ainsworth. It played in the Division I regional at Saginaw Heritage in 1998.
*Lapeer West played in the Class A regional at Southfield Lathrup in 1973.
** Grand Blanc played in the Class A regional at Rochester in 1978.
