Although Ormondville Rail Preservation Group and generations of Ormondvillians have to date been unsuccessful in getting Ormondville onto this otherwise very good map, Norsewood, Makotuku and Matamau have been more fortunate. Therefore, to locate where Ormondville should be, read the following instructions BEFORE proceeding:

First, go to here for the map

Second, click on Matamau or Norsewood on the map that appears for a closer view. Note that Matamau has vanished, but Makotuku has appeared. Now look closely between the “r” of Norsewood and the “k” of Makotuku, and you will see where Ormondville should be. In addition, Ormondville Viaduct carries trains over the stream that is clearly visible in this vicinity.

Third, click on Norsewood or Makotuku. Matamau will now reappear, but still no Ormondville! You can, however, be assured that it does exist about halfway between the “oo”s of Norsewood and the second “u” of Makotuku.

Now go explore the railway routes of the Central North Island

Post Script: The nice people at Multimap in the United Kingdom assure us that they are improving their map data all the time and that at some point in the future Ormondville may appear. If you wish to support our hope that this event might occur sooner rather than later, please email your request to them at info@multimap.com (and ideally quote their reference: Enquiry No. 243, 11/1/2000). That way they will have proof that Ormondville really does deserve to be ‘on the map.’
