EYRE ON THE SPOT FOR THE TIGERS

Hull City grabbed their first away league victory of the season after a physical encounter at Torquay. The Tigers goal came in the first half after Neil Mann was bundled over in the box. The resulting penalty was calmly chipped in by John Eyre. Torquay players felt that Gary Brabin should have been sent off after a viscious tackle in the second half but he got away with a caution.

CITY TAUGHT A LESSON BY THE 'POOL

Hull City could not match up to the quality of Premiership football in front of an almost sell-out crowd at Boothferry Park. After a lively opening by the Tigers the reds took the lead through Danny Murphy. Murphy then grabbed a second to leave the Tigers 2-0 down at the interval. With the second half just 5 minutes old the lead was extended by Erik Meijer. City came back and gave their supporters something to cheer about when Schofield nodded the ball back to Brown who volleyed home. The defeat was completed by further goals from Meijer and Staughnton to leave the final score at 5-1.
