WELCOME

Welcome to Ed Hamile's West Coast Shoto Kan Karate Association, International! WCSKKA International has schools in the USA, Israel, Mexico, Hawaii, Belgium and the Netherlands. The association is headed by Shihan Ed Hamile, 9th dan, who teaches at the Headquarters Dojo in Temple City, California.

The aim of this Association is to further the growth of Traditional Karate. We accomplish this by helping our students to develop a sound mind, a dynamic spirit, a sound philosophy and improved physical well-being through the practice of Shoto Kan Karate. Shoto Kan Karate was founded by Master Gichin Funakoshi. He combined the various styles and techniques of Karate that he had learned into a scientific and rational system which today is known as Shoto Kan Karate.

Karate is a martial art and we teach it as an art. It can also be a sport and a method of self-defense. The physical practice of Karate helps the student to improve coordination and body condition. The mental practice of Karate enhances the students concentration and helps to improve their intellectual, emotional and social lives. In so doing, the student develops a good, healthy self-image. Karate is an individual experience. There are no secrets or magic. You simply get out of it what you put into it.
