MARCH 2, 2002- The Cowboys made there most recent move this year. They traded A. Gibson, newly acquired S. White and a Third round pick that the Cowboys acquired from philly, for DE P. Kerney, OT E. Salaam and their Sixth round pick. Russ said "This is a key addition to the cowboys team. Kerney and Salaam are both top quality players who are future pro bowlers".
March 2, 2002- The Cowboys filled the SS gap and picked up a quality RG today. They acquired SS M. Pope and RG F. Middleton. They gave the Raiders newly acquired LT T. Teague and WR D. Chiaverini. Russ sayed "We feel like Pope can feel the gap left by Woodson trade and Middleton gives us a solid guard opposite of (Larry) Allen"
March 1, 2002- The Cowboys completed another trade today. They acquired WR Keyshawn Johnson and DE H. Taylor from the Bears. The Cowboys gave the Bears DE Greg Ellis and next seasons first round draft pick. Russ is quoted as saying "The addition of Keyshawn gives us two of the best receivers in the game. We beleive the H. Taylor can fill the gap left by (Greg) Ellis".
March 1, 2002- The Cowboys cleared a lot of cap room today with the trade of Joey Galloway. The Cowboys added DE's E. Wyms and S. White. They also got Tampa's second round pick in next years draft. The Cowboys gave the Buccaneers, Galloway, B. Frisch and Tennesee's 5th round pick which the Cowboys acquired earlier. Russ sayed "The Trade of Galloway gives us some cap room to go after Keyshawn and in the process we picked up two good Defensive Ends".
Febuary 27, 2002- The Cowboys picked up a top quality wide receiver and let go a team veteran. The Cowboys picked up Ed McCaffrey and traded Darren Woodson. The Cowboys sent Woodson and Flozell Adams to the Broncos and received McCaffrey, SS Kenoy Kennedy, LT Trey Teague and the Broncos 7th round pick. Russ said "Giving up Woodson was tough but we feel Kennedy can eventually take over for him and that McCaffrey will make an immediate impact"
Febuary 26, 2002- The Cowboys completed another trade today. They traded LB Marcus Steele for DT Robaire Smith and the Titans 5th round pick. Russ commented "We feel like Robaire will help our D-Line out tremendously." Robaire has 4 sacks in 2 years as a pro.
Febuary 24, 2002- The Cowboys upgraded their Secondary today with the acqusition of Jamar Fletcher from the Dolphins. They gave the Dolphins E. Ekuban, Mario Edwards and their 6th round pick for Fetcher. Russ said "Fletcher is a huge lift for this secondary and we look for him to make an immediate impact".
Febuary 20, 2002- The Cowboys completed the first trade in XMFL history today. They received CB Bobby Taylor, WR James Thrash, DT Hollis Thomas and Philedalphia's 3rd round draft pick. Dallas gave the Eagles Raghib Ismail, Kareem Larrimore and their 2nd and 5th round draft picks. Russ said "This move will help our WR group along with our secondary and our D-Line" |
