How it all started :

Our league is an outgrowth of conversations among a small group of friends in the Internet Gaming Zone who found that the Zone can be a delight when we’re playing with reliable, pleasant, good players, and a nightmare when we’re playing with inconsiderate, rude, vulgar poor sports. In order to promote the former and avoid the latter, we created the Teapot League.

Our primary focus is giving people the opportunity to play pleasant card games with others who are mature, competent, and genial. After all, we are spending a very scarce commodity in the Zone --- our leisure time. Winning may be the destination, but we think that “the trip” is equally important and should be as enjoyable as possible. Membership in our league is by invitation only. This guarantees that all matches will be played by skilled and courteous individuals, thereby fulfilling the needs and desires of any serious spades player. We play with a minimum of rules, the two most important being "play fair" and "have fun." Furthermore, we don't expect our members to lumber through a frivolous tournament in one single night, not knowing who they’ll meet or what may await in the next round.

How our format works:

The Teapot League is split into four divisions, “Wintergreen,” “Red Zingers,” “Cinnamon Plum,” and “Blackberry.” During the seven weeks of each new league session, each team plays three games apiece with one of the other teams in its division. When all 21 games have been played, the top two teams in each division go to quarter-finals. When the League Championship team has been determined, a new session begins.
