Rules
1(a). The Scoring System: The scoring system will follow the format Points + Rebounds + Assists + Steals + Blocks - Turnovers for a 10 man roster. The team that has the highest score wins. In the event of a tie, the team with the highest indivudal scorer wins. Home teams will start with 5 points, creating a "home court advantage". Playoffs will have a 10 point spread.
1(b). Replacement Rule: Players in the starting lineup or bench playing 18 minutes WILL have their scores counted. Starters playing less than 18 minutes may have bench players take their place in the starting lineup for that game. The bench player MUST be position eligible to replace the starter. Bench players who replace a starter that plays less the 18 minutes, fail to play or play less than 18 minutes may have a reserve player take their place on the bench.
2. Rosters: Teams may have a max of 13 players on their roster. 10 spots exist for standard players (5 starters + 5 bench players), there are 3 spots open for reserves. You may also have up to 2 players on the Injured Reserve at any time that do not count against the player or salary cap as long as they are officially on the NBA's Injured Reserve list. Once you place a player on the IR you are then allowed to sign a free agent as an IR replacment player to replace the player that is injured, however once that injured player returns you must release the player you signed as your IR replacment immediatly. EXAMPLE: Micheal Jordan gets injured and is placed on the IR by the Wizards. You can then place Jordan on one of your IR spots and he won't count against your player or salary cap. You can then put in a bid for Charles Barkley as an IR replacement through the normal free agent bidding process. Once Jordan is taken off the IR by the Wizards you must take him off your IR and release the player you picked up which in this case was Charles Barkley. 3. Salary Cap: Teams will have 30mil total salary cap. Teams are required to be at or under the salary cap by the beginging of the season or they will forfeit each game until they are under the cap...NO EXCEPTIONS. If you go over the cap during the season because of trades or free agency you will have 24hrs from the time the transaction takes place to get everything under the cap or you will forfeit each game until you do. 4. Signing Free Agents/Waiving Players: Free Agent bidding will be done using Shawn's site http://www.3powells.com/ifba/. The minimum bid for any player is .5 mil a year.
Teams can waive anyone of their players at anytime during the season, half of that players contract will count towards your salary cap for the remainder of the contract. If another GM would like to pick up a released player they will follow the same rules of bidding that are in place for free agents. Once a team signs a waived player the original team is no longer responsible for that player in any way. If a team wants to pick up one of their own players after they have released him, you can do so but you have to take on his original contract. 5. Contract Extensions: Any team may resign any number of their free agents without releasing them to free agency provided you follow the scale below to do so. You can extend a player for 2 years for 10% of his fpts, PLUS a bonus if he is in the top 8 at his position - that is for Restricted Free Agents. For UNRestricted - 1 year, 10% with no bonus.
6. Rookie Signing Scale:
Below you will find a scale for signing Rookies. Just so everyone knows this scale is based on signing your rookies for 5yrs. If you wish to sign them for less then 5yrs subract 0.5mil for every year you take off their contract.
Just so everyone knows the minimum for signing all rookies is 0.5mil no matter how many years you take off their contract you must sign them for 0.5mil.
7. Trading: Teams can trade their players with one another during the regular season and in the offseason. A "no trade" period will commence shortly before the playoffs and will be enforced throughout the playoffs. The Comish has the right to overturn any trade he feels is unfair or lop sided to much to one side.font> 8. Player
Positions: We will use ESPN.com for player positions. If you notice one of your players has a split rating on ESPN.com and not on the rosters page...just email me and I'll change it acourdingly! 9. Drafts: The order for the rookie draft will be determined by the final standings at the end of the regular season going from last to first. The draft will be held shortly after the NBA rookie draft and will consist of 2 rounds. Any questions, please e-mail the commissioner!
