Single-line kites
I have only started building one-liners after quite a few attempts
at stuntkites and powerkites, and mainly to provide something of a "here-we-are"
factor when flying. Compared to some of the beautiful art works out
there, mine are very basic, but they still have quite an impact.
Busy testing my Double Delta Conyne (now in ripstop and previously in garbage bag plastic).
A very stable kite, with quite a lot of pull. Ideal for activities
such as KAP (kite arial photography) and parafauna-dropping.
Simple diamond with a clown face. Would you believe it, but
this kite took a while before I managed to get it to fly! As I said,
I am not the best 1-line maker in the world. After this one, I got
myself into making another 12 for all the children in my wife's family. I have since adapted it to a 2-line steerable kite, which works better for myself.
Rokkaku with a smiley face. This rok has a keel length of
1.2meters and is made out of ripstop. After a very close encounter
with a kite-eating tree on its maiden flight, it managed to brighten up
my, and a couple of other people's faces.
Without thinking twice, I promised the grandchildren in my wife's family that I would make them each a kite, only realising much later that I had to make 12 kites!! They were mightily impressed with their kites, which can be flown both as single and dual line kties (and can be stacked). The windsock in the background was another fun project.
Supposedly "the smallest kite in the world"! A friend brought it as a gift from London....best of all is that it FLIES!!.
