February 2, 2000 NWA RETURNS TO JERSEY Sports Entertainment in Conjunction with NWA-NY NWA New York promoter Carlina O'Brien announced that an agreement has been reached between the New York branch of the NWA and the newly created New Jersey based Sports Entertainment Group. With New Jersey no longer having an official NWA affiliate, the agreement allows the new group to run shows under the NWA Banner in the Garden State through O'Brien's membership. According to the NWA bylaws, any member may run events in an area that is not under exclusivity. Until a new member is approved for the State of New Jersey, NWA NY plans to run shows there under the NWA banner. Part of the agreement between NWA New York and SEG is a talent exchange program, as Zieg, a long time NWA-NY performer and former TV Champion, will be wrestling on the first SEG show which will be on January 22nd. "This won't interfere with our TV taping either, since our taping will be earlier in the day," said former NWA NY commissioner and current NWA Director Rick O'Brien [pictured]. "This can lead to good things." Also planning to run shows in New Jersey under the NWA banner, until a new promoter is announced, is NWA 2000 promoter Marc Corraluzzo, although he currently has no shows scheduled. Read about how this came to pass.... In a surprising reversal of fortunes, RCW/NWA Commissioner Rick O'Brien suddenly found himself as the EX Commissioner, thanks to the underhanded tactics of Rick Silver, Preston Montgomery, Esq. and the rest of the Big Unit! It has been no secret that the financially struggling company has put a strain on the relationship between real life husband and wife Rick and Carlina O'Brien. Carlina, the promoter, had been looking for a financial bail out of the cash strapped company for a quite a while. Preston Montgomery, Esq. provided that bail out. Carlina O'Brien sold her portion, the CONTROLLING portion to PME. When informed of this, at the December TV Tapings, O'Brien was livid. Unfortunately, he was in the ring with PME, and the Big Unit, along with Kristy Kiss. After PME dropped his bombshell of purchasing the company, PME dropped another bombshell. PME appointed Rick Silver as the NEW Commissioner, and Silver then FIRED Rick O'Brien. To drive the point home, Silver cracked a metal chair over O'Brien who was being held by Dave Desire and PME. O'Brien left the building dejectedly, having lost that which he desired and worked hard to build. He didn't have to wait long. O'Brien received the following notice concerning an opening in the NWA Executive Board. The Executive Board is the policy making, decision making part for the entire 25 member National Wrestling Alliance. Here is the notice received by ALL NWA members: P R E S S R E L E A S E FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE *************************** December 31, 1999 CHARLOTTE =96 PRO WRESTLING ORGANIZATION, LLC., a North Carolina limited liability corporation, DBA, the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), announced today the appointment of NWA New York promoter Rick O'Brien to its Board of Directors. The appointment of Mr. O'Brien comes in conjunction with the news that long time NWA promoter and former NWA Board Member Dennis Coralluzzo of New Jersey is leaving the organization effective immediately. In September, Mr. O'Brien was elected as a board alternate in the event a member would be unable to complete his elected term. With Mr. O'Brien replacing Mr. Coralluzzo, the new board now consists of Howard T. Brody as President, Bill Behrens as Vice President, David Baucom, Antonio Inoki, Jim Miller, O'Brien and Ernie Todd as Directors, with Fredric G. Rubenstein remaining as a consultant and Robert K. Trobich staying on as the group's corporate counsel. Pro Wrestling Organization, LLC. and the NWA wish Mr. Coralluzzo only the best of luck in all of his future endeavors. In the space of a few weeks, O'Brien has gone from no job to helping to oversee the largest and oldest wrestling organization in the world. What this bodes for Mr. Rick Silver, the NEW Commissioner, and PME, the NEW Owner of RCW/NWA, is anyone's guess. |
RESULTS FROM ST. NICKS OF TOLENTINE The Unit Comes Away with the Gold...Almost A great night of wrestling action was shown and the school showed its appreciation by inviting NWA-NY back again! First match: Jr. Heavyweight Champion Chris Michaels defeated Grandmaster B. in a fantastic wrestling match. Michaels scored the pinfall following a 337 DDT! Michaels was very over with the crowd while Grandmaster B. was very hated by the crowd. Second match: Hardcore Champion The Intruder defeated Frankie Starz to retain the belt! Intruder was very popular with the fans, while Starz was very hated. The wrestlers used baseball bats, chairs, and whatever else they could find under the ring in this match. Third match: Mabutu with Preston Montgomery Esq., defeated Zieg by pinfall. Mabutu was subbing for Blast. The ending occured when Zieg's younger brother Damien made his way into the ring while the referee was distracted by PME and Damien hit Zieg with his own version of The Chamber! Mabutu then splashed Zieg and covered him for the three count. Fourth match: Magic retained his Heavyweight Title by defeating Joe Rulez, who was a surprise substitute for the absent Guillotine LeGrande. Rulez made a great showing for himself, but Mr. 445 was no match for the extremely popular Heavyweight Champion! Magic pinned Rulez following his Spinning Splash. Following Intermission, Fr. Bob announced that NWA-NY would be back at the school for a second show, and guaranteed that the building would be packed! A date has yet to be announced, but the time frame is for the Summer! Fifth match: Jay Lover defeated his hated foe Tommy Logan via pinfall after putting Logan thru a table in the middle of the ring! These two battled all over the ringside area and used everything! Chairs, wood, tools from the ring, etc. Logan's fiance' was at ringside and was clocked by Jay Lover which really thru the fans into a frenzy! Jay Lover covered Logan for the three. Sixth match: Since the Soul Brothers were a no show to the event, a Royal Rumble was held, and the final two men in the ring would be declared the NEW NWA-NY Tag Team Champions. All the wrestlers for the evening were included, even Damien! The last three wrestlers in the ring were The Big Unit and Magic! The Big Unit had its trouble with Magic, but eventually, The Unit double crotched Magic and then threw him over the top! As the Big Unit was celebrating, Rick Silver announced that The Big Unit belongs with the likes of teams such as The Fantastics, The Rock & Roll Express, The Midnight Express and Manny Fernandez and Dusty Rhodes! At that, The Soul Brothers music began to play, and out ran the now former Champions! The match was underway! Seventh match: The Soul Brothers defeated the Big Unit when Elvin Soul pinned Dave Desire following a very painful B. Flat! The Big Unit title reign lasted a grand total of about 15 minutes! The fans in attendance were very happy and NWA-NY looks forward to returning there in the future! |
TV TAPING MADNESS!! Another Month of Episodes Completed It was a great Taping that saw the return of former Champions and wrestlers, and the debut of many wrestlers! Biggie Biggs, 'Heartbreaker' Jeff Grant, and Homicide, and The Flesheaters all returned, Mafia Mack, Frankie Starz, Grandmaster B., Mind and Matter all debuted! Before any matches could get underway, Blast came out showing no remorse for his actions, when he choked Zieg out and won the TV title. He went so far as to claim that Zieg staged the whole thing, and that everyone in the locker room was in on the joke. He says that if Zieg was more than half a man, he'd stop faking this injury and meet him one-on-one in the ring tonight and try to take back his precious TV title. Zieg, of course, being injured, did not come out. So Blast said that Zieg is either really hurt, or really SCARED. He then said if Zieg is really hurt, then we might as well give him a 10-bell salute and declare that Blast KILLED HIS CAREER. The lights went out and Time Keeper Frankie Gambroni began tolling the bell. That was until Zieg’s music played over the house speakers. When the lights came on, A figure resembling Zieg was in the “Crow’s Nest,” pointing the finger of death at Blast. The lights went out again, and when they came back on, Zieg was gone. Magic's music then came on, and Blast bailed out of the ring. Match # 1: The Big Unit vs. Little Dixie & Elax (5-minute challenge match) Impressive looking rookies, Elax and Little Dixie, although taking a serious beating from the Big Unit, were able to last 5 minutes they needed to win the match. Preston Montgomery, Esq. grabbed the microphone and challenged Dixie and Elax to another five minutes. The crowd approved. But then Commissioner Silver took the mic and said, “We didn't mean five more minutes with The Big Unit...We meant 5 more minutes WITH THE MAFIA!” At this time, another newcomer, only known as Mafia Mack came out with the returning Flesheaters and beat the living hell out of Dixie and Elax. The Soul Brothers managed to run in for a save, but the damage was already done! Match # 2 : Chris Michaels (Champ) vs. 'The Heartbreaker' Jeff Grant NWA-NY Jr. Heavyweight Title Match Preston Montgomery explained the reasons why Crazy Ivan was not be able to participate in this match, and why he is allowing 'The Heartbreaker' Jeff Grant get a shot at the Junior Heavyweight Title. He also stated that because of the awful job of refereeing that Ivan did last time, that HE will be the special guest referee for this match! Good match as both men fought back and forth until Grant finally hit his “Heartbreaker” move which would have given him the Jr. Heavyweight title. But before he had the chance to cover Chris Michaels, Preston grabbed the Jr. Heavyweight title from the announce position and crowned Jeff Grant with it. He then proceeded to cover Michaels for his own 3 count and declared himself the new Jr. Heavyweight Champion. Both Michaels and Grant were furious! Match # 3: Tommy Bousche vs. Damien Tommy Bouche was announced to the ring, and then Damien. Strangely though, Zieg’s music began to play again. Out came a wrestler who looked very much like Zieg, wear Zieg’s German wrestling gear and everything, except he was wearing a mask. This aggressive ... well, I guess Zieg, ripped Tommy Bouche apart and easily got the 3 count. Before the next match go underway, Preston Montgomery, Esq., got into the ring wearing the Junior Heavyweight Title. He said that he has just as much a right to wear this belt as Chris Michaels, because he pinned him for it. But because he's not an athlete, he's decided to award the title to his favorite light heavyweight wrestler. He summoned Dave Desire (w/ Rick Silver), and was about to present him with the belt until Chris Michaels and Jeff Grant came down the aisle. Michaels grabbed the mic and challenged the Big Unit to take on he and Jeff Grant later on in the show. The Unit agreed. Match # 4: Grand Master B vs. Sensational Frankie Starz Good match between these two newcomers to NWA-NY. Frankie Starz got the pin fall in the end. Immediately following the match Rick O'Brien stormed out of the curtain, got in the ring and demanded that Preston, who was doing commentary, join him. As soon as Preston entered the ring, Rick O'Brien walloped him with the NWA-NY Jr. Heavyweight title belt and began to tie him up with Ducked Tape, completely humiliating Montgomery. O'Brien then told Preston that their matters were far from being settled and he would one day, own his company once again. Match # 5: Mind & Matter vs. The Soul Brothers(Champs) NWA-NY Tag Team Title Match. The Soul Brothers retained their Tag Team Titles by defeating Mind and Matter. The fans still love to see the Soul Brothers dance! Match # 6: J-Lover vs. The Intruder(Champ) NWA-NY Hardcore Title Match. J-Lover, who is no stranger to hard-core style matches, completely had the advantage in this one. Everything from pans, to brooms, to crutches were used in this one. Most of the beating came from J-Lover, and when he was just about to win the match and the title, Tommy “Too Sweet” Logan entered the ring and hit Lover with a chair. The 2 battled for several minutes all over the ring until they ended up fighting on the ring apron. The Intruder, seeing a window of opportunity, seized the moment by shoving both Lover and Logan off the apron and through a table on the outside. The Intruder then ran out and got the pin for the win. Match # 7: Eric Kreed O'Brien Vs Preston Montgomery, Esq. Preston noticed Eric Kreed sitting in the crowd and asked him to come in the ring. He told him that even though he's fired, he's going to give him the chance to get his job back as a favor to Rick O'Brien for attacking him last week. Kreed looked totally puzzled. Montgomery told him that if he wanted to be reinstated in NWA-NY, all he has to do is win a wrestling match against himself, Preston Montgomery Esquire...And The FLESHEATERS! Kreed attacked Preston right away, but only a few short minutes after the Flesheaters arrived, the match was over. Rick O'Brien, who took Preston's spot at commentary (because Comm. Silver allowed him to), jumped in the ring and attacked Preston as well, but to no avail as the Flesheaters got to him to. The Soul Brothers ran in for the save, but it was too little, too late. Match # 8: The Big Unit vs. Chris Michaels and 'Heartbreaker' Jeff Grant What confusion this turned out to be as shortly after the match was underway, Mafia Mack once again made his way to the ring to join the Unit. A handicapped match was now taking place until LOW-KI ran to ringside to help out Michaels and Grant. This match was crazy but the end saw Michaels grab the belt from ringside and slam it up side the head of Commissioner Rick Silver. Michaels then covered him for the three count! Match # 9: RCW/NWA Heavyweight Champion Magic & Tommy Logan vs. Guillotine LeGrande & Monsta Mack - Street Fight-SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE - HOMICIDE!!! Just another typical day in NY with both sides going toe to toe, head to head, and whatever else you can think of. Magic and Guillotine found themselves fighting outside the ring, Logan and Mack battled inside the ring and BIGGIE BIGGS made his way to the ring. Much to Logan's surprise, Biggie entered the ring and went berserk on him. This allowed Monsta Mack to load up that infamous elbow pad, and hit Logan with it while Homicide counted three. Biggie left quickly and quietly and Magic had no idea what had happened to his friend who was laid out in the ring. After the ring was cleared, Biggie Biggs returned to challenge Logan to a match, but only if it was the main event. Biggie said he only wrestles in main events, because he pinned Ogawa and he's a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Match # 10: 6-Man Tag Team Match: Tommy Bousche, Roberto Banks, Jr., and Mr. P vs. The Mighty Billy Blumpkin, El Tygre, and H.C.M.F. (Hardcore Mike Farma) These rookies showed all they could in this 6 man tag match. Hardcore Mike Farma pinned Rob Banks, Jr., a Centon Bomb from the top rope. Match # 11 Blast's TV Title Defense A masked man by the name of Mr. X was announced to take on Blast for the TV Title. After Blast got in the ring, he said that he's not wrestling this Mr. X, he has had it, and it's time for Zieg to get out here, stop playing mind games, Zieg’s music plays, and Zieg comes out, but again with this mask on. The two begin to stare each other down, while Mr. X, confused, waits in the corner. Zieg and Blast begin to circle each other. They stood nose-to-nose and Blast shoves him, which send Zieg crashing to the mat like an anvil just hit him, and Blast put one finger on him and got the three-count. Blast got back on the microphone. He said of course this guy isn't the real Zieg, because the real Zieg wouldn't have made it to the ring because he's still in the hospital from when I choked the life out of him at the last show. He then said that nobody cares about Zieg, not me, not the fans, and not even YOUR OWN BROTHER DAMIEN! Zieg took the mask off to reveal Damien, Zieg’s little brother. Damien grabs the microphone and said that if Zieg ever returns to wrestling, he will personally make sure that his comeback is short-lived, because since he started pandering to the fans, he's an embarrassment to wrestling, an embarrassment to his family, and an embarrassment to himself. He promised to do his family proud by being ruthless and violent, and destroying all in his path. Suddenly, Mr.X grabbed Damien from behind and German Suplexed him on his head. While Blast turned around Mr. X pulled his mask off to reveal the REAL ZIEG. Furious, Blast was on the move, but Zieg managed to duck out of the way to get some shots in. When Zieg returned his attention to his brother, Blast took advantage and began clobbering Zieg. After hitting him with a running powerslam, he instructed Damien to hit Zieg with the Chamber. Damien, whose Chamber is just as devastating as Zieg’s is, left Zieg laying in the ring. Match # 12: Tommy Logan vs. Biggie Biggs A classic battle between old friends and old enemy was fresh again to the longtime wrestlers of NWA-NY. Nobody knows each other better than Logan and Biggs do, and they proved it. But in the end, it was Logan who had the last laugh when his fiance/valet Jeana Marie noticed the Grand Vizier giving Biggie a handful of power. Jeana Marie jumped on the apron to debate, and while Biggs was distracted by her actions, Logan kicked Biggie’s hand, while his power plan backfired and Biggie got at face full of it. Logan hit with his Strutting DDT for the win! |
