2000: DISTRICT III, REGION II, 2A CHAMPS for the 8th consecutive year!!! Tasha, Theresa and Whitney are selected for the District All Tourney Team. Tasha is District 3 point champion. Undefeated the whole year except for the two losses to 4A Kenai Varsity.

2A STATE CHAMPS for the 3rd time in the past five years! Tasha, Theresa, and Whitney are selected to the State All Tourney Team. Molly Bosick and Corina Sullivan are selected to the All Sportsmanship Team. Theresa Chihuly is "Small Schools Player of the Year." Tasha, Theresa & Whitney are named to the All State First Team. Dan Leman is named ASAA's Region II "Girl's Coach of the Year".

    • Dec. 18 Kenai Varsity: More height and depth meant more rebounds and a 49 to 33 victory for the 4A Kards against 2A Ninilchik. Kards held the Wolverines to 20 pts. in the first three quarters, playing tight pressure defense. Chihuly, recovering from recent surgery and illness, battled fatigue. Freshman Whitney Leman was high scorer w/ 12 pts. including two 3 pointers, one right before the final buzzer, followed by Chihuly w/ 11 pts., Bosick w/ 6, Tasha Leman w/ 2, and Russo w/ 2. Total fouls Nin. 13, Kenai 18. * 3 pt. goals: W.Leman 2, and the Kard's Hershberger 3.


    • Alumni game Dec. 28: 6 pm women and 8 pm men: The annual Ninilchik alumni bball game billed "Girls vs Geezers" and "Boys vs Wheezers" was another entertaining one. In the men's game, the Wheezers defeated the Ninilchik boys 88-77. Keith Presley led scoring with 22 pts. while Justin Blank added 13. Josh Smith put in 15 pts. for the boys; Buck Kvasnikoff added 14, and Chris Kruzick followed with 13. In the women's game, the Ninilchik girls took a 15-3 lead in the 1st quarter and won 59-36. Theresa Chihuly put in 15 and Tasha Leman hit 11. Trish Supple (formerly Trish Nobles, Small Schools Player of the Year in '97), put in 12 for the Geezers. 3 point goals: Finely Bock (2), Buck Kvasnikoff, Josh Smith, Justin Blank, Dan Leman, Angela Lindeman and Whitney Leman.


    • Jan. 14: Cook Inlet Academy: Ninilchik ran away from Cook Inlet Academy 64 to 28 on CIA's homecourt. Tasha Leman led all scorers with 18 points, including a couple of three pointers. Kourtney Hanson scored 10 incl. a 3 pt. goal; Theresa Chihuly sunk 8; Molly Bosick added 7; Whitney Leman scored 6; Kelsey Deiman also scored 6 (two three pt. goals). Janelle Moerlein followed w/ 5, and Corina Sullivan and newcomer Rachael Goodwin scored 2 pts. each. Starter Jessica Russo is out for 6 weeks with a knee injury.


    • Jan. 15: Homer High JV: Ninilchik girls crushed Homer High's JV's 78 to 24 in Homer's gym Saturday. Theresa Chihuly led all scorers with 19 pts. Standout freshman Whitney Leman was right behind her with 18. Janelle Moerlein sunk 11 followed by Tasha Leman's 10. Kourtney Hansen added 7. Other scorers: Molly Bosick - 6; Corina Sullivan - 3; and Maria Johnson, Kelsey Deiman, and Rachael Goodwin - 2 pts. each. Three pt. goals were made by Whitney Leman (2), Kourtney Hansen, and Corina Sullivan.


    • Jan. 18-Seward JV, 4:00 @ home, VG & B: The Wolverines put four girls in double figures and cruised to a 63-17 victory. Ninilchik had a 19-7 lead at the end of first quarter and outscored the Seahawks 17-2 in the second quarter. Freshman Whitney Leman poured in 20 points and nailed three 3 pointers to lead all scorers. Molly Bosick had 14 and Tasha Leman added 13, including a 3 pointer. Theresa Chihuly chipped in 10. Other girls scoring: Hansen - 2, Moerlein-6, Deiman-6.


    • Jan. 20-Kenai JV, 4:00 @ home, VG & B: Ninilchik defeated Kenai 51 to 20 with a well rounded team effort. Scoring was balanced from the starters, with 3 players in double figures. Theresa Chihuly scored 14, followed by Whitney Leman with 13 including three 3 point goals. Tasha Leman sunk 10. Other scorers: Kourtney Hansen and Molly Bosick - 5 pts. each; Maria Johnson - 2, and Corina Sullivan - 2. The girls improve to a 4-1 overall record and 4-0 in District 3/2A play.


    • Jan. 22-Nenana, 6:00 @ home, VG & B: Ninilchik girls stomped Nenana 56 to 15 in Saturday's game. Three players scored in double digits in their win; freshman Whitney Leman led all scorers with 14, including a 3 pointer. Theresa Chihuly put in 12 and Molly Bosick went 10-for-10 from the foul line to score ten pts. Other scorers: Tasha Leman - 6; Kourtney Hansen - 5 (including a 3 pointer); Janelle Moerlein - 6; Corina Sullivan - 2; Rachael Goodwin - 1.


    • Jan. 28-Community Christian School (CCS from Homer), 4:00 @ home, V & JV: Ninilchik girls defeated Homer Christian Knights 65 to 53. Whitney Leman & Theresa Chihuly led Wolverine scoring with 14 pts. apiece. (Whitney had two 3 pt. shots included in those points.) Tasha Leman put in 13 (including one 3 pointer), followed by Kourtney Hansen with 11, (including three 3 pt. buckets). Molly Bosick made 7, followed by Corina Sullivan with 6.


    • Jan. 29-Skyview Varsity B & G, 2:00 @ home: Ninilchik girls defeated 4A Skyview Varsity Panthers 56 to 29. Theresa Chihuly led Wolverine scorers with 19 pts. Other scorers: Tasha Leman - 10 (including a 3 pointer), Molly Bosick-9, Janelle Moerline & Kourtney each with 5, Whitney Leman - 4, Jessica Russo - 3, and Corina Sullivan - 1. Molly Bosick led Wolverine defensive rebounding, while Theresa Chihuly took top honors in offensive rebounding. Tasha Leman was top in assists.


    • Feb. 1-Seward C, 4:00 there, JVG & B: Canceled and rescheduled for Feb. 22nd due to avalanches in the pass.


    • Feb. 4, 5: Seldovia (there), VG & B: In a clash of the two top ranked Class 1A/2A teams, the No. 1 Ninilchik girls swept a pair from host Seldovia on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the girls overcame a 9 pt. deficit in the 3rd period to win 61-52. In Friday's game the Wolverines outscored Seldovia 28-13 in the last 8 minutes. Theresa Chihuly tied Seldovia's Jacquelyn Brown for game high scoring honors with 20 pts. Whitney Leman added 18, including a pair of three pointers, and her sister Tasha put in 11, including three 3 pointers. On Saturday, the Wolverines changed defensive policies and cruised to a 52-30 win. They outscored the Otters 19-7 in the first 8 minutes of the game and never looked back. Theresa Chihuly led all scorers with 14 which included two 3 pointers. Tasha Leman put in 12, including a couple of 3 pointers, and Whitney Leman added 11, including a 3 pt. shot. The girls improve to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in league play.


    • Feb. 8-Kenai, 5:30 there, JVG & B: This was supposed to be a game with Kenai C team, but most of the C team was participating in the mass choir festival happening at the same time, so our JV team played a combination of Kenai's Varsity, JV & C team. Final score Kenai 42, Ninilchik 36. Freshman Whitney led all scorers with 16 points. Kourtney Hanson and Janelle Moerline each put in 6, followed by Brieanna Leman and Kelsey Dieman each with 3, and Russo with a bucket. The girls struggled at the free throw line, making 50% of their shots.


    • Feb. 11-Heritage (3A) 3:30 there, VG: The Wolverines overcame 3A Heritage 53 to 44. Theresa Chihuly topped all scorers with a whopping 28 points, including a 3 pointer. Molly Bosick sunk 13, followed by Whitney Leman with 8, and Tasha Leman and Maria Johnson, each with 2. The Lady Wolverines shot poorly from the free throw line (10 for 19). Molly Bosick led in defensive and offensive rebounds.


    • Feb. 12-Su Valley (3A) there, VG & B: Wolverines rolled over Su Valley 63 to 32.. Tasha Leman led the pack with 19 points, including three 3 pointers. Freshman Whitney Leman sunk 15, including three 3 pointers. Theresa Chihuly followed with ten. Kourtney Hanson added 4, and Janelle Moerline, Kelsey Dieman, and Corina Sullivan each put in a bucket.


    • Feb. 15-Homer C, 4:00 @ home, JVG & B: Stat sheets not available but our girls beat them by 20.

      Ninilchik vs. Unalaska: Wolverines crush the Raiders 64-25 with great efforts from Theresa Chihuly and Tasha Leman, each with 14 points, Whitney Leman with 13, and Sullivan and Bosick each with 7. Other scorers: Kourtney Hanson with a 3 pt. shot, and Moerline, Johnson and Goodwin, each with 2.


      Ninilchik vs. Minto: Ninilchik wins 70-38. Ninilchik had 4 players in double figures, with freshman Whitney leading the pack with 14 pts. followed by Molly Bosick with 13, Theresa Chihuly with 12, and Tasha Leman with 10. Other scorers: Jessica Russo with 6, Kourtney Hanson with 5, including a 3 pointer, Brieanna Leman and Janelle Moerline each with 4, and Kelsey Dieman with a bucket. The girls struggled at the free throw line with 64%.


      Ninilchik vs. Seldovia: Ninilchik's Theresa Chihuly is hot, leading all scorers with 25 points. She also led in defensive rebounds and steals. Other players in double figures were Tasha Leman and Molly Bosick with 13 and 11 points respectively, including a 3 pt. bucket for Tasha. Whitney Leman scored 7 and Kelsey Dieman put in 3. The girls shot 52% from the free throw line.

    • Feb. 29 - Ninilchik vs. 4A Kenai Varsity girls at 6:30 at Kenai Central H.S.: What a nailbiter!!! Final score Kenai 43, Ninilchik 42. Theresa Chihuly and Whitney Leman both put in 13 points for the Wolverines. Molly Bosick followed with 8 and Tasha Leman put in 6. Lots of fans showed up to cheer on their teams and we are sooo proud of our girls!!!


    • Mar. 11-Comm. Christian, 2:30 there, (girl's game 6:30) V & JV: Ninilchik 65, CCS 42. Ninilchik outscored CCS the first half 33 to 12 and the 2nd half, 25 to 11. Theresa Chihuly was high scorer with 22 points. Whitney Leman followed with 9, including a 3 pointer. Corina Sullivan made 8 pts., including two 3 pointers. Other scorers: Tasha Leman and cousin Brieanna Leman both put in six apiece. Molly Bosick put in 5, Russo - 4, and Johnson, Dieman, and Moerline - a bucket each. Tasha led her team in steals while her sister Whitney led in assists.


    • Mar. 17-CIA, 4:00@ home, VG & B: Ninilchik runs over CIA 68 to 26. Leading all scorers was senior Theresa Chihuly with 26 points. Senior Tasha Leman put in 15, including a 3 pointer. Other scorers: Molly Bosick with 10, Whitney Leman with 7, Jessica Russo with 6, and senior Corina Sullivan with 4.

    • In the girl's first game of the tourney against CIA which took place at 6:00 on Friday, 3/23/00, Ninilchik won 66-12. Top scorer was Whitney Leman with17, including a pair of threes. Right behind her was Theresa Chihuly with 14. Other scorers for the night: Tasha Leman and Molly Bosick, each with 8, sophomore Brieanna Leman with 7, including a three pointer, Janelle Moerlein and Jessica Russo, each with 4, and Corina Sullivan and Kelsey Dieman each with a bucket. Sisters Whitney and Tasha Leman led in steals (total steals for the game was 32.) Sophomore Molly Bosick led in rebounds. On a sad note, our thoughts and prayers go out to junior Kourtney Hanson and her family, who are with Kourtney's brother Lars who is gravely ill with cancer.


      Friday the 24th: Ninilchik and Seldovia battled it out as two great teams would be expected to do. Theresa Chihuly led all scorers with 18 points. Tasha Leman dumped in 10, including a 3 pointer, while sister Whitney scored 9, including a 3. Molly Bosick had 4 and Russo and Sullivan each contributed a bucket. Whitney had an amazing 11 steals while sister Tasha led the team in assists. Final score: Wolverines 45, Sea Otters 35.


      Sat. the 25th: In this rematch of the Sea Otters and the Wolverines for the championship game, Wolverines took a quick lead and stayed intense the entire game to win 59-32. Freshman Whitney Leman was hot with 20 points to lead all scorers, getting 9 of her points with 3 point buckets. Chihuly followed close behind with 19, including a tre. Tasha put in 9, Bosick had 4, Dieman put in a 3 pointer, and Brieanna Leman and Corina Sullivan each had a bucket. Tasha and Molly led the team in steals, followed closely by Whitney and Corina. Tasha led in assists.

    • Mar. 30-Apr. 1: State Tournament in Anchorage


      Game 1 with Kake: Ninilchik 69, Kake 32. Freshman Whitney Leman scores a whopping 28 points to lead Ninilchik to victory. She had an outstanding game, shooting 11 for 13 field goals, three out of four 3 pt. shots, 3 out of 5 free throw goals, and had five rebounds and six assists. Theresa Chihuly had 18 points with four out of five free throws, five rebounds, five assists and six steals. Tasha Leman put in ten points, including two 3 pointers. She was two for two at the free throw line and had six assists and seven steals. Molly Bosick led in rebounding with seven. She had four steals and two points. Other scorers: Jessica Russo (4), Brieanna Leman with a 3 pointer, and Janelle Moerlein & Corina Sullivan with a basket each.

      Semi-final round Game 2 with Minto: Ninilchik 37, Minto 18. Whitney Leman once again leads the way with 24 points, including five 3 point goals, eight out of fourteen field goals, and three for six at the free throw line. She also had five assists. Theresa Chihuly had 16 points and five steals. Molly Bosick was hot with 18 points, including five for five field goals, seven for eleven free throws, four rebounds and two steals. Tasha Leman added 8 points including a three pointer and had six assists and four steals. Other contributors: Jessica Russo (6) and Corina Sullivan (4).

      Championship game with Seldovia: Ninilchik 55, Seldovia 31. At the half, Seldovia was ahead by three, but Ninilchik came out in the second half, scoring 37 points to Seldovia's ten. Theresa Chihuly scored 18, including seven of twelve field goals and four for four free throws. Whitney Leman put in 13, including five field goals, two free throws and a 3 pointer. She also led in steals with seven. Tasha Leman added eleven, and had eight assists and three steals. Other scorers: Janelle Moerlein had five. Molly Bosick and Corina Sullivan each added three points. Jessica Russo put in a bucket.

      TASHA LEMAN AND WHITNEY LEMAN WERE BOTH SELECTED FOR THE FIRST TEAM ALL-STATE.

      CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE GIRLS ON THEIR OUTSTANDING EFFORT THE ENTIRE SEASON. WE ARE SO PROUD.

    • April 6, 2000: Senior All Star Game at Skyview at 6:15 p.m. Selected top players from the Kenai Pen. District Schools played an entertaining and exciting game to a large crowd of proud parents and friends. They played to a 79-79 tie. Players were wearing either their home or away uniforms and were either on a light or dark team. All 3 Ninilchik seniors were invited to the game and really made us all proud. Theresa Chihuly tied with Kenai's Cory Hershberger for top scorer with 23 points for the light team (coached by Ninilchik alumni and current C Team girls Skyview coach Debi Blossom.) Tasha Leman netted 19 for the dark team, including three 3 pointers. Corina Sullivan put in a 3 pt. bucket for the dark team. Good game girls!
