There are many good sources of information about races in the greater Cleveland area and other parts of Ohio. This page contains a list of these other sources, along with some comments about their utility.

Please keep in mind that races have been known to have their dates changed or be cancelled at the last minute. Therefore, always verify race dates and times.

Printed Sources

Long Distance Running Annual Schedule for Northern Ohio: For many years, THE single best running calendar. Contains information about the majority of races in the Cleveland area. It is published in February, so that changes in dates that occur after late January will not be reflected here. Published by The Athlete's Shoe Specialist (phone 216-663-2282) through 1998. Copies can be picked up there and usually are also available at the other running stores in the area. The 1999 calendar will be put out by the Rocky River branch of The Second Sole (440-895-1311).

Run Ohio: A running newspaper that covers races all over Ohio; available by subscription (PO Box 238, Granville, OH 43023; phone 614-587-0376). They also put out an electronic version (see below). Their calendar generally only lists some of the races in the Cleveland area, however.

Plain Dealer: Their recreation calendar includes races scheduled for the upcoming weekend. Occasionally future races are also listed. Good information source for last minute decision making, but not for those of you who like to plan ahead.

HMA Sports: They coordinate many races in the area. They generally are nice enough to send out entry forms if you call them: 216-752-5151.

Hermes Race Systems: They coordinate many races in the area. They generally do not send out entry forms if you call them, but ask that you send them a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Phone 440-979-0151. They also have an electronic calendar (see below).

Running Clubs: Several of the local running clubs hold or help coordinate races, and have useful information in their newsletters.

Cleveland On the Run A racing calendar put out by Haney Sports.

Run Ohio Contains a race schedule which covers all of Ohio, but does not necessarily contain all Cleveland area races.

Hermes Race Systems Includes a calendar of races that Hermes coordinates.

Cleveland Hash House Harriers and Harriettes The original Cleveland area hashing group.

North East Ohio Hash House Harriers and Harriettes New group founded in Spring 1997.

CVS Cleveland Marathon & 10K New for 1999.
