Jim Schwab #11

Became the Attack's third head coach prior to the 1996-97 season . . . has built a reputation as one of the league's top competitors . . . is also head coach of the Johnson County Community College men's team, which has compiled a 133-29-6 record and four region titles under his reign . . . was a 1985 third round draft pick of the Kansas City Comets of the MSL and played one season with the Hershey Impact of the NPSl in 1988-89.
1996-97: Won the National Professional Soccer League Championship in his first season as Head Coach ... Has the highest win percentage in the regular season (.650), the playoffs (.846) and overall (.698) of any coach in Attack history ... Was the Attack's team captain for five seasons before taking over head coaching duties . . .Enters the season as the Attack's all-time leading shot blocker with 370 ... Led team with 25 blocks in the 1997 playoffs ... Needs just 23 points and 30 blocks to reach the 400-point plateau in each category.

Sammy Ekeme #20

Originally from Kumba, Cameroon, Africa ... Was a member of the Cameroon National Team vying for the World Cup in 1994 ... Has played professional soccer since 1984 throughout the world, including stints with Carmmak Bamenda, Santos Yaounde, Canon Yaounde, Hawaii Tsunami, Monterrey La Raza, and the Kansas City Wizards ... Won First Division Championship and Cameroon Cup with Canon Yaounde and the CISL Championship with the La Raza in 1995 ... Played with the Wizards of the MLS in the summer of 1996 before joining the Attack in 1997, shortly before the playoffs ... Helped shut down Cleveland phenom Zoran Karic in the NPSL Finals in 1997 ... Is affectionately nicknamed "Muan-Kum" because of his involvement in Africa with the tribe of the same name.
1996-97: Joined the Attack on Feb. 26, 1997 ... Was a key member of the defense after the departure of John Limniatis to the Canadian National Team ... Played just eight regular season games before the Attack entered the playoffs ... In 13 games of the playoffs, recorded 11 blocks for fifth best on the team.

Wes Wade #24

Enters his sixth season for the Attack. . . In addition to his NPSL service, he also carries three years of championship playing experience with the San Diego Sockers (MISL) and one year with the Arizona Sandsharks . . . Was nicknamed "Wild Wes Wade" by San Diego fans for his style of play and wild haircut . . . One of the fastest players in the NPSL . . . Was Kansas City fan favorite in a poll taken at the end of the 1997 season. . .Ranks first in the Attack's all-time assist column (221) and has led the team in assists every full season he's been with the Attack.
1996-97: Led the Attack in assists for the third straight season (52), while playing in all 40 regular season for the third consecutive season. . .Was fourth leading scorer with 97 points . . . Was third in blocks (34), fourth in shots (151), and had three game-winning goals . . . Scored 31 points for fourth best in the playoffs, while recording a team-high 25 blocks . . . Passed Peter Hattrup (1989-94, 186 assists) as the Attack's all-time leading assist man . . . Showing his incredible versatility, Wade was moved to defense prior to the season, only to be voted to play as an All-Star defender, his second All-Star appearance.

Kevin Koetters #17

Enters his seventh season in the NPSL and with the Attack. . .Has been named the team's MVP in two of his six seasons. . .His career statistics (213 goals, 196 assists, 591 points, 139 blocks) show his versatility. . .Has been an All-Star in the NPSL two times in his career. . .Is third in NPSL all-time playoff scoring (153 points) and assists (45) and seventh in playoff games played (50). . .Is one of just two players in the league on the 40-40-40 Club, with 40+ goals, assists and blocks in a season (1993; 45 goals, 50 assists, 42 blocks) . . . has played professionally with the Colorado Foxes (USISL), San Diego Sockers (CISL), Kansas City Wizards (MLS) . . . spent the summer with the Rochester Raging Rhinos of the A-League . . . graduate of Rockhurst College in Kansas City.

Known simply as "Novi" . . . played 26 games for the Attack in his NPSL rookie season last year . . . Came to the Attack with 9 years of professional experience in Europe, including stints with Sutjeska, Radnicki, Partizan, Vozdovac and Celik . . . Won the Yugoslavian National Championship with Sutjeska in 1990 . . . Was voted the best junior soccer player in Montenegro in 1989-90 . . . Received limited playing time in Rochester this summer with the Rhinos of the A-League . . . Hometown is Niksic, Montenegro, Yugoslavia. . .Cousin is Pedrag Mijatovic of Real Madrid . . . Provided very balanced production from every aspect of the game in 1997, Scoring 41 points on 16 total goals and 6 assists while adding 88 shots and 21 blocks from the midfield. . .Scored twice in the playoffs for four points and had seven blocks.

Referred to as "The Worm" by fans for his worm-like celebrations after exciting goals . . . Was a gold medal winner with the United States in the 1991 Pan American Games as the U.S. trained for the 1992 Olympics . . . Starts his second full season with the Attack . . . Began his career in 1988 after being the third-round draft choice of the MISL's Dallas Sidekicks out of high school . . . Earned all-NPSL honors and an All-Star appearance with the Tulsa Ambush in 1991 . . . Led the Ambush with 128 points that season, ranking sixth in the league that year . . . Held the record for points in a season by a rookie from 1991 through 1997 . . . In 1992 he signed with the Detroit Rockers and after 25 games was traded to the Wave . . . In his first full season with the Wave, he scored 36 goals and 18 assists (82 points) in 37 games . . . originally from Lewisville, Tex., where he was discovered by Parade Magazine as a High School All-American in 1988
1996-97: Scored 58 points in 32 games (1.8 ppg) during regular season, and stepped it up a notch in the playoffs with 30 points in 13 games (2.3 ppg) ... His four game-winning goals were tied for second best on the Attack . . .All but one of his goals was a two-point goal.

Was voted the Most Valuable Player of the 1997 championship series as he led the Attack to the 1997 NPSL title. . .His 11 wins in the playoffs was an Attack record. . .Saved 217 of 299 shots faced with a 12.62 points against average in 13 playoff games. . .Stopped 50 percent of shoot out goals during the playoffs (5 of 10) and 21 of 38 (57 percent) in the regular season. . .Had a 23-13 regular season record, a career best . . . stopped 502 (team-record) of 732 shots faced . . . Regular season points against average was 11.95.
