(PP)--Icon Headquaters-Brian "Icon of the Week" Egloff is now back!...That's right. After a short, semi-sober discussion with team captain KAK last week, Egloff has put his grievances behind him and signed a new contract for soccer and volleyball. When asked why he was trading himself, Egloff responded, "I had to.....Well, I'm just quitting for now, but I'll come back if you guys need me." And with that, Egloff was back aboard. He is set to return in soccer this Sunday. "It's great to get him back," said an ecstatic Capt. KAK, "Icons of the Week don't grow on trees ya know." KAK
Things seemed well in hand at the Icons vs. Phi Delts softball game on Monday evening. A Phi Delt had been ejected after initiating malicious contact with Bubba Land at home plate in the 2nd inning, the Icons were winning, and coming to bat.....However, later in the game, Bubba accidentally tossed a bat over the fence nearly hitting several Phi Delt fans when the bat he was attempting to return to their team caught on his finger and sailed a bit high. Outraged over what seemed to be an attack, the Phi Delts argued for ejection which was granted. Bubba must now meet with Asst. Director Micah Stevens to acertain his future in Intramurals. "He'll have to be reinstated," said Capt. KAK, "We'll just have to explain to Micah that his intentions were neither violent nor malicious; it was a freak accident." Bubba, however, is declining comment until after the reinstatement meeting.
(PP)-IM Office-Wednesday morning @ 11:30 am, bad news(or good news depending on how you look at it) was handed down from the IM Chiefs. After pleading a very weak case before Micah and Ruth in the suspension hearing with Capt. KAK present, Micah explained his decision, "I'm sure, Jason, you didn't have an intention to put anyone in danger but you did unfortunately." Bubba suspension will entail 2 games which will enevitably also include the first soccer game due to the lackluster play of the ICONS which will keep them from the playoffs. "I asked Micah if an appeal would allow him(Bubba) to play until the appeal was heard like in Major League Baseball but the answer was no.....," said a disappointed over the 2 game suspension KAK, "I was there for moral support only, but now we'll decide if we want to appeal the suspension even though Ruth said we have 'no chance in hell.'" The suspension stems from a Monday night game incident in which Bubba "accidentally" launched a bat over the side fence endangering a group of frat and sorority spectators. Unfortunately, no one was hurt....ha ha.....Earlier in the contest, Bubba was mowed down at the plate by a Phi Delt with raised forearms and a lowered shoulder, an act for which he was ejected. Bubba hopes to return in game 2 of soccer which may not happen if the ICONS lose their opening match.
