From Gonzaga To Utah

After finishing 4 years at the university of Gonzaga the Utah Jazz drafted John Stockton in the first round of the 1984 NBA draft -16th pick overall.
What looks now like a steal didn’t look the same 13 years ago.
The Jazz fans didn’t booed when they heard about the pick ,they just asked: John Who ???
But very soon everyone discovered how good Stockton is. He broke the Jazz rookie records in assists and steals and became a consistent player of the bench.
The 1984 draft is consider as one of the best of all-time.
Along with Stockton the list of other great players who were drafted in 1984 include:
Hakeem Olajuwon (no. 1) ,Michael Jordan (no. 3) , Sam Perkins (no. 4) ,Charles Barkley (no. 5) ,Otis Thorpe (no. 9) and Kevin Willis (no. 11).
But not all the picks were so successful like those ,some of the teams that chose before Utah must be regret their decision not to take Stockton.
Those teams include: Washington (who took Mel Turpin with their sixth pick) ,the Clippers (Lancaster Gordon,8) ,Philadelphia (Leon Wood,10) and Dallas (Terrence Stansbury -now in Israel ,15).
