1990-91: First season in Czechoslovakian National League, averaged a point a game. Was a member of Czechoslovakian junior team which won a bronze medal at World Junior Championships in Saskatoon, finished seventh in tournament scoring.
1991-92 First season with Dukla, was second on the team in scoring, first in goals. Was fourth in the league in scoring and his 23 assists were tied with two others for second. Team finished first in the Eastern Division and was playoff champion. A shoulder injury prevented Ziggy from joining the Olympic team.
1992-93 Decided to spend season in the Czech Republic after being assigned to Capital District during trainging camp. Finished first on Dukla Trencin and in the Czech National League in scoring and assists, finished second in goals. Team finished third in the league.
1993-94 Started season in Salt Lake(IHL) was recalled on Jan 6 and was one of four rookies to make NHL debut he next night in a victory against Calgary. Returned to Salt Lake on Jan. 11 and was assigned to the Slovak National Team competing at the Olympics in Lillehammer Norway, Jan 31. Led all players in the Olympic tournament in scoring (3-7-10 8 GP) and was first in assists. Returned to Salt Lake mid-February and finished third on the Golden Eagles in scoring and second in goals despite appearing in only 57 of 80 games.
1994-95 Was in and out of lineup but play improved each game and came on strong in the latter part of the season. Scored first two goals of career and Islanders' only two goals in team's come from behind victory over the Panthers on opening night. (Goalie Mark Fitzpatrick)Finished 12th among the leagues rookies in goas and was names one of the game's "three stars" sevens times. He played in Denver(IHL) during the MHL work stoppage and ranked seventh on the Grizzlies in goals, second in game-winning tallies(5) and 11th in scoring despite playing in less than half the teams games.
1995-96 Established himself as a NHL star. Finished among the league leader in points (tied for 23rd), goals(tied for 14th) and power play goals(tied for 8th). Leda team in goals, points, power play goals, game-winning goals, and shots(2570. Placed on top line opening day at Boston and registered three assists in a 4-4 tie, he remained on the Isle's first-line right win for the rest of the season. He got his first two career hat tricks in consecutive games. (March 3rd vs. Winnipeg, Nikolai Khabibulin and March 5th vs Boston, Bill Ranford) Became only the second player in Islander history(Mike Bossy Nov. 8-11 1980 and Jan 13-17, 1891) and the second player in the league(Mario Lemieux, Oct 28-30) to record back-to-back hat tricks. His assist on April 6th vs Buffalo on Bryan McCabe's goal was 100th point of career. Ziggy tallied his first career shorthanded goal on April 19th in Pittsburgh(Ken Wregget). Defensive skills were improving each game and he began killing penalties regularly mid-season. He scored the first goal of the game 11 times, was named Marvin and Sons Jewelers Player of the Month for January, February and March, was voted SPORTSCHANNEL MVP, he swtiched uniform number from 68 to 16 November 4th vs. Capitals. Missed Feb 22nd game at Rangers with concussion suffered in previous game vs. San Jose. Personal: Ziggy is single. Spent part of the offseason traveling in England and Africa. Is the youngest of three children, has twin sisters Ziggy's favourite movie is "Cool Runnings", actor Arnold Schwarzenegger ad actress Sharon Stone. He considers it an honour to play in the NHL
