The Big Little Guys in Football

This page is under massive contruction it will someday be a tribute to the so called undersized pro football player of the past and present

You may begin to notice after reading some of these profiles that some of the greatest players in pro football history have actually been considered undersized. These profiles will be updated soon.

Barry Barry Sanders: RB 5'8 203lbs #20 Detroit Lions
He is the most elusive person in the world, not to mention one of the greatest running back to ever play. He's got moves, more moves and then some. He always makes the first tackler miss and it usually takes atleast two or three guys to contain and tackle him. He turns seemingly impossible situations into positive yards. "He is so quick he can turn out the lights and be under the covers before it gets dark!" Unfortunately Barry prematurely retired before the 99' season.
Napolean
Kaufman
Napolean Kaufman: RB 5'9 180lbs #26 Oakland Raiders
Sanders maybe the best but Kaufman is my favorite. He is a little package of power. He's considered small at 5'9" and 180lbs but he is incredibly strong and fast. If you've never watched him play or even heard of him it's a shame you missed him. His short career only lasted from 1995 - 2000 and he was underused for much of that time. The guy was just plain explosive. He had the ability to break a long one at anytime. He never got as much playing time has he deserved because everyone thought he could not handle the pounding. They thought he was too small to be an every down back. Come on the guy could bench press over 400lbs. The one season he was allowed to play fulltime and start every game he rushed for over 1,200 yards, caugth passes for another 400+, had the single most rushing yards in one game for the season and scored 8tds. Too small? I don't think so! Over his career he averaged 4.9 yards per carry putting him in an elite catogory of Running back who averaged 4.9 yards/carry or more in the modern era which includes: Barry Sanders, Bo Jackson, Jim Brown, Gayle Sayers, and Mercury Morris

Mike "Pinball" Clemons
The "Pinball": RB 5'6 170lbs #31 Toronto Argonauts
He was one of the smallest Running Back in professional football, but that never stopped him from amassing yards and touchdowns while running, catching, returning and even throwing the ball. The guy could block too. He was an all purpose back who could help any team. He earned the name "Pinball" for his knack for bouncing of would be tacklers like a pinball. Whenever it seemed like he was on the way down he just keep going and going and bouncing and bouncing. He bounced around so much that it he usually took himself down before opposing players could. He is simply amazing to watch. The Pinball is currently the CEO of the Toronto Argonauts after 7 successful seasons as the Head Coach of his former team. In 1990 he was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Player. In 2000, after 11 season he retired, as a football player, with the record for the most all purpose yards in professional football.
