Game 5-Basketball '98

by Tom Kassmel

AND THE GAMES GO ON.........

Once again the Cheetahs take part in another Heartpounding game that ends in termoil.

On Wed. Feb. 4 the Cheetahs took on the undefeated Timberhill team with a vengence. However they're valient efforts were to no avail.

An unfortunate loss, 41-39.

The game was a see-saw battle, each team taking small leads throughout the game. It was a rough game with so many fouls, we all lost count. A technical was called early in the game, on Timberhill.(Well deserved). This set up the brutal brawl that led up to last second fouls and a game ending technical foul by the Cheetahs.

With (approx) 2.5 min left the Cheetahs were down by about 3. Timberhill had the ball, and they were playing games. Just passing it around at the top of the key like selfish children afraid they might blow the lead. They managed to take about 45 sec. off the clock before the Cheetahs went in and fouled in order to stop the clock. Timberhill went to the line, scored, but the Cheetahs came back with they're own two points. And that's how it went for the final 1.5 min. Timberhill would play with ball, Cheetahs foul, Timberhill would score 1or2 from the foulline, and then the Cheetahs would come back with a two pointer.

Finally with 13 sec. left Cheetahs had the ball with the score 41-39, and then....a typical Cheetah Blunder....

Timberhill got the ball back, and because of the Cheetahs aggressive nature we attempted to get the ball back, however, as a result a technical was called and the game was ended............41-39

So we end the first half of the season with a record of 1-4. Next game Mon Feb. 9 @ 8:00pm

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SOME BACKGROUND INFO.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Timberhill is the team that gave us our only win last year, which we took easily. They were worse then us. Now they are undefeated, We can only assume FOUL PLAY. The matter will be looked into.........

Note: Due to court difficulties, the above game was played on a mini-basketball court. This may have led to difficulties in team play.

PS. The above two statements are true, but also are most likely poor attempts to cover for the Cheetahs pitifall performance this year, when we've had such opportunity.
