J & J's Place: Sports

I realize that free agency was created to help prevent team management from screwing the players, but it's killing professional sports. Players become eligible for free agency and then they sign with whomever offers them the most green. How can teams expect fan loyalty when all (ok...most) of the players obviously care more about the almighty dollar than they do about championships. There has to be some middle ground that gives the players what they're worth (and it ain't 10 figures a year!) and still allows contractual deals so that teams can actually be teams again! OK...I'll get off the soap box now and let you move on to the sports page.
