Need to be 'FUNKY'? Well this is your one stop funk shop! No, this page
doesn't sell you the funk, it teaches you the funk. What is funk? You
might ask. Well, I'm here to tell you.
If you've got FUNK you are...
cool, yet fresh, and at all times...GROOVY! If you're all these at once
it makes you have FUNK making you a FUNKY DUDE!!!
FIRST A WORD ON HOW THE WORDS FUNK AND FUNKY ARE USED...
I know some of you out there are using the word FUNKY for some things
that are less desirable like, "That old rotten cabbage sure is FUNKY,"
but FUNKY and rotten cabbage don't mix. Rotten cabbage can't be FUNKY.
Is it cool? NO. Is it fresh? NO. Is it GROOVY? NO. Well then, how can
it be FUNKY? This type of use of the word FUNK or FUNKY is wrong and
should stop. Here's an example of how FUNKY is supposed to be used.
"That dance is so sweet, it's totally FUNKY!" See how it conveys the
impression of something good that is cool, yet fresh, and completely
GROOVY. Now that's the way the words FUNK or FUNKY should be used!
HOW DO I KNOW IF I'M ALREADY FUNKY...
Just look at yourself and answer these questions. Do I wear
things that even if I was a shy person make me stand out in crowd?
Would I still have confidence if I was missing my front teeth and looked
like the walking dead? Do I use words that say 'HEY, I'm FUNKY' like
GROOVY, smooth like butter, FUNK, tight, fresh; yet stay away from
words like rad, daddy-o, and cool-e-o? Do I walk like I'm always
in a GROOVE? Do you stay cool in hot situations?
If you answered no to any of these question you need to work on
getting in your FUNK MODE!
HOW DO I GET INTO MY FUNK MODE...
First, to get yourself feeling FUNKY you must remember the 80's and
say, "There is nothin' FUNKY from that decade!" and begin working
on your vocabulary. If you're FUNKY you still sound educated but give
off the aire of coolness,"drop the ebonics or preppy stick talk." You
need to sound like a normal person but slighty cooler, in other words
act natural with some flavor.
Second, you need to present yourself as FUNKY. This doesn't mean walk
into a room and say, "Hi, I'm John Doe and I'm FUNKY." It means
dress and walk like you're FUNKY. If you don't know how to dress like
you're FUNKY look at someone like George Clinton or the Beastie Boys, or
watch a movie like Pulp Fiction or Saturday Night Fever, SNF
will also help you learn to walk and dance like you're FUNKY.
Finally, you need to have the feeling that you're FUNKY. This means
get some confidence and learn to control feelings of hostility, because
someone who is FUNKY doesn't loose their cool or ever feels down on
their luck. Unfortunately you can't learn how to do this by watching
something or reading this page, it's something you have to develop
yourself.
